The Brisbane Planetarium

The Sir Thomas Planetarium features Cosmic Sky dome, display zone, mini theatre, observatory and planetarium shop- perfect for Brisbane kids of all ages, especially space buffs! Awesome displays and theatre presentations- go to their website for details and better still it is right next to the botanical gardens for a lovely (and cheap) afternoon out with the kids.

While the planetarium itself is free, the shows that are conducted do cost a small amount.

2011 Christmas Holiday Show:

Tycho to the Moon   Tycho is a dog who doesn’t just howl at the moon, but wants to go there. Blast off on an amazing ride into space with Tycho and his young friends. Recommended for children from 3 years. Approx. 40 minutes, inclusive of night sky tour.

the Cosmic Skydome shows do have an admission charge. Adults – $14.10, Children (under 15) – $8.40, Family. There are also family passes and group rates. They also have very good 3-show passes valid for one year year, admits one individual per show, usable for any public show and is transferable - Adults – $30, Children – $18.
