Happy NEW YEAR

This is a little post just to thank you all for a wonderful year with Brisbane Kids and welcome those new fans that have come on board. My name is Ngaire and I do this job with My Husband (Mr Brisbane Kids AKA Ged) and my 3 kids Tom (2), Jack (4) and Summer (0). I also have to thank Kylie from Duo Sista and Nicole from LBM designs for supporting Brisbane Kids as it grows in size with logo, website and branding design, not to mention all the other Brisbane businesses that support us on a daily basis.

Brisbane Kids Exploded!

In just 12 months we have quadmillioned (hehe a BIG NUMBER) our facebook friends, quadmillioned our website followers and become regulars on 96five which in-turn helps many other Brisbane Families plan their child friendly lives. We relaunched a new Brisbane Kids website following a hacking incident and are well on our way to planning the ultimate rebuild- the website that will handle the volume of traffic and content we anticipate to have in the coming years.

The Floods

We ran our business throughout the floods becoming very aware that our facebook page was one of the community hubs families were using for information. It was a humbling experience, one in which we saw the city of Brisbane rise to show their amazing spirit in their donation of time, effort and goods. It was this experience that made us believe that Brisbane Kids was so much more than just a crazy idea- it was a community representation- it was this feeling that gave us the momentum to expand, grow and commit. It also encouraged us to find ways to give back to the community which we did throughout the floods and also more recently helping to raise over $5000 for Mummy’s Wish together with our friends from Finlee and me

Our family

As a mum I feel like I have made so many friends through Brisbane Kids, infact everyone on our facebook page feels like a friend to me (like it or not ;) )- and I look for this to be an inclusive community- with all mums and dads to know that they aren’t alone- We are all in this crazy journey together. I have been supported by you in so many ways- and I thank you. This year I managed to complete a full time prac in my graduate diploma in early education so feel like I have a little bit more knowledge of what makes Brisbane Kids learn and thrive. I also expanded our family, with a new little baby girl, Summer, to join my 2 crazy Brisbane Toddlers, it has been a big year!

Infact it has been a year where I have felt than many of you have grown accustomed to my midnight and midday rants- aware that we are a family business- not a corporation- and therefore we have a heartbeat, a personality, a human side. In short Brisbane Kids means A LOT to me so if at times I seem protective and mildly obsessive, it is because I am.

2012

ok so here it is- our plans

  • We will improve- we aren’t perfect and we have our to do list- be patient with us- we (i) do this with 3 kids under 5
  • Our community calender will upgrade (very soon) making it easier for events to be listed for free, we will be looking to streamline our calendar making it easier to find and search.
  • We will be placing more craft and fun activities on the website- things to do with Brisbane Kids that don’t necessarily involve leaving the house
  • Our Newsletter will be a weekly affair- smaller in size but providing our advertisers the opportunity to offer their sales and other offers directly to you!
  • We will be expanding into more areas like family day care,- more special needs information and more reviews of local destinations
  • We will complete the trademarking journey to protect our brand
  • We will keep our DOB in a WOW playground giveaway but expand it to include other Brisbane treasures
  • We will be bringing on more child friendly businesses due to the hiring of some new sales staff
  • We will be relaunching Gold Coast Kids and another 1 or 2 websites (top secret at this stage)
  • we will be getting more involved at a community level in some awesome ways.
  •  I will also be trying to get 8 hours of sleep every night and spend time with our families because this is what Brisbane Kids is all about!
  • WOW WHAT A LIST!!!!!.. and thats just the ones we want to share- the rest will remain.. mum?.. until their release.
So thanks for a great year- we cant wait to see what 2012 holds in store!
As always we welcome your input, feedback and critique which you can do below or email me at info@brisbanekids.com.au
