The IA Romanian Festival returns to the Great Lawn at Broadwater Parklands, Southport on Saturday 7th June 2025! 🇷🇴
This free cultural celebration invites everyone to experience a vibrant showcase of Romanian traditions, music, dance, and food. Held at the same popular location as previous years, the festival honours the IA – Romania’s traditional handmade blouse, recognised by UNESCO as part of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

Visitors are encouraged to wear their IA or traditional attire and bring the whole family for a joyful day of cultural connection and celebration.
An IA (pronounced “ee-ah”) is a traditional Romanian blouse, known for its beautiful hand-embroidered designs. Made from natural fabrics like cotton or linen, each blouse features unique patterns that reflect Romanian culture and heritage. Recognised by UNESCO as an important part of Romania’s cultural identity, the IA is often worn at festivals and celebrations – it’s a proud symbol of tradition and craftsmanship.
