Market Day at Old Petrie Town

Experience the Distinctive Charm of Sunday Markets

For more than three decades, Old Petrie Town has hosted its beloved Sunday Markets, a cherished tradition in Brisbane. Set against the backdrop of historic buildings, these markets offer a unique ambiance that sets them apart. Here, visitors can immerse themselves in local history while perusing gourmet foods, fresh produce, and artisanal crafts—a delightful weekend excursion for all.

Uncover Hidden Gems and Retail Delights

Step into the village and explore a diverse array of vendors offering handmade crafts, vintage treasures, fashionable boutiques, and rare collectibles. Whether you’re hunting for a special gift or simply enjoying a leisurely browse, Old Petrie Town promises something special for every visitor.

Engaging Activities for All Ages

Beyond shopping, Old Petrie Town is a hub of entertainment and education. On the third Sunday of each month, join the Te Aukaha Maori Performing Arts group for “Learn Maori” sessions featuring traditional songs, dances, and cultural insights. Additionally, the Queensland Steam and Vintage Machinery Society showcases meticulously restored machinery from yesteryears, while the Fire Museum boasts a captivating collection of firefighting artifacts.

Kid-Friendly Fun

Children can hop aboard the beloved Lil Squirt train, available during market hours for a nominal donation. For a hands-on experience, reserve a spot for them in the Kids Pottery Classes held on the last Sunday of every month (booking required via Facebook). With activities like face painting, hair braiding, and pony rides, Old Petrie Town ensures that youngsters are entertained, fostering a welcoming atmosphere for families.

Delve into Brisbane’s Rich Heritage

Explore the area’s historical charm at the Pine Rivers Heritage Museum, where exhibits detail early industries, recreate an 1890s classroom, and offer insights into pre-electricity life in a farm worker’s cottage. Additionally, don’t miss the Scout Museum, open on the second and fourth Sundays of each month.

Plan Your Trip Old

Old Petrie Town’s Sunday Markets operate from 7 am to 1 pm, allowing ample time for exploration and enjoyment. With convenient parking facilities, it’s an ideal destination for a leisurely Sunday outing with loved ones.
