MoB School Holiday Fun

Get creative at Museum of Brisbane with a range of low-cost and free activities on throughout these school holidays. Workshops start from Friday 8 December and run until Sunday 21 January, as well as a series of ongoing activities for all age groups which are sure to make these holidays memorable.

  • Create your very own Petal Patterns inspired by the new exhibit
  • Craft your own wearable art in the Flower Power Badge Studio
  • Put on a show with your very own Carnivorous Plant Paper Puppets
  • Stitch up a storm with the Pom Pom Cactus Studio
  • Experience the Teen Sunpaper Printing Workshop to learn the magic of printing
  1. Rearranged: Art of the Flower

Still life takes on new life in this celebration of the art of the flower. Journey through the house, out the back and into the garden, and revel in the beautiful blooms of Brisbane in Museum of Brisbane’s newest exhibition.

FREE exhibition – 25 November 2023 – 11 August 2024 | 10am – 5pm

  1. Petal Patterns

Stack, fold and rearrange your very own Petal Patterns inspired by new exhibition Rearranged: Art of the Flower. International artists including Noa Haim (Rotterdam) in collaboration with Adriaan de Man (Eindhoven) have reimagined their interactive artwork for a special school holidays activity.

FREE activity – 9 December 2023 – 21 January 2024 | 10am – 1pm 

  1. Little Artist’s Eye Spy

Transform your Museum visit into an exciting game of Eye Spy and discover details you might otherwise have missed. This playful Museum experience will immerse you in all forms of local art, history and culture, encompassing five different exhibitions. Ask our friendly staff at MoB reception when you arrive for activity sheets for children and their parents or carers.

  1. Clock Tower Tours

Discover the hidden secrets of your Heritage-listed City Hall building with a guided tour of Brisbane’s iconic Clock Tower. The Clock Tower Tour includes a ride in one of Brisbane’s oldest working cage lifts, a look behind Australia’s largest analogue clock faces and time to explore the observation platform that shares a unique perspective of your city. See if you can catch a glimpse of the bells!

  1. Flower Power Badge Studio

Give your look a stylish twist when you visit our Flower Power Badge Studio. Inspired by the colours of the Rearranged: Art of the Flower exhibition, we invite you to draw on the movement and shapes of our artworks to create your own piece of wearable art.

  1. Carnivorous Plant Paper Puppets

Drop into the studio during the school holidays and explore the fascinating world of carnivorous plants in this drop-in interactive activity designed for the whole family!  Try your hand at making a paper hand-puppet inspired by carnivorous plants including Venus fly traps and pitcher plants and put on a show!

9 December 2023 – 24 December 2023 | 10am – 1pm

  1. Pom Pom Cactus Studio

Stitch up a storm with our Pom Pom Cactus Studio!  Start growing your very own rainbow succulent garden and be inspired by the wild, woolly and wonderful world of artist Millie Radovic as you learn how to turn yarn into a colourful cactus to take home.
