SUMMARY:WONDER: Cloud Play @ HOTA
DESCRIPTION:WONDER: Cloud Play @ HOTA\nWONDER 2025 delivers its biggest and boldest artwork to date with CLOUD PLAY by internationally renowned artist Patrick Shearn of Poetic Kinetics. Presented exclusively in Australia\, this breathtaking kinetic sculpture is the centrepiece of this year’s festival and is on display at HOTA’s Outdoor Stage from 31st May to 13th July. \nSpanning 530 square metres\, CLOUD PLAY floats gracefully in the air\, evoking the fluid formations of a murmuration of birds or a school of fish. The sculpture moves with the wind\, serving as a mesmerising reminder of nature’s presence. Crafted from tens of thousands of shimmering ribbons\, the artwork incorporates personal reflections gathered from the Gold Coast community during the Sky Ribbons project in March. Each ribbon carries a message completing the sentence\, “I’m grateful to call the Gold Coast home because…”\, creating a dynamic expression of local gratitude and identity. \nAccompanying the visual experience is an original soundscape blending natural sounds with music and cultural knowledge. Created by Saltwater man Lann Levinge\, operatic baritone Jose Carbo\, and celebrated didgeridoo artist William Barton\, the soundscape adds depth and atmosphere to the installation. \nAfter dark\, CLOUD PLAY transforms as IKONIX illuminates the sculpture with light displays that respond to real-time wind data\, bringing the ribbons to life in a symphony of movement and colour. \nThis captivating installation is part of a broader program of free and ticketed events under WONDER\, running from Saturday 31st May to Saturday 21st June. With its scale\, beauty\, and community spirit\, CLOUD PLAY is a must-see experience for both locals and visitors this winter. \nWONDER: Cloud Play @ HOTA event details \nWhen: Saturday 31st May – Sunday 13th July\, Exhibiting daily 9am-9pm* \n*Exhibition may be closed to the public for the setup and presentation of ticketed events. \nWhere: HOTA Outdoor Stage\, 135 Bundall Rd\, Surfers Paradise 4217 \nCost: Free \nMore information: WONDER: CLOUD PLAY @ HOTA

SUMMARY:Harry Potter - A Forbidden Forest Experience

With themed food and merchandise available onsite\, it’s the ultimate night out for witches\, wizards\, and muggles alike. Tickets are expected to sell fast—don’t miss your chance to walk through the magic!  \nHarry Potter – A Forbidden Forest Experience Event details\nWhen: From June 20th 2025 \nWhere: Sirromet\, 850 Mount Cotton Road\, Mount Cotton\, Queensland. \nBuy tickets \nHarry Potter Event Review \n \nHarry Potter – A Forbidden Forest Experience is a full sensory immersion into the wizarding world – with things to see\, hear\, taste\, smell and touch straight from the pages of these beloved tales.  Our Harry Potter fan 11 and 8 year olds LOVED every minute – especially the interactive elements! Even though the walk is long\, the music\, theming and magic along the way make it an unforgettable magical experience.  \nRight off the bat though it’s important to note this is not a cheap night out. The tickets aren’t cheap and then there’s a minimum of $15 parking on top ($20 if you didn’t pre-pay).  This is for Harry Potter diehard fans- which perhaps we would compare to Bluey’s World? Its not for everyone but for those that it is for- proper COOL!  \nIf you’re working with Muggle money and not a whole vault of gold at Gringott’s\, it might be worthwhile eating before you come to save some of your coins – but maybe budget for a treat or two before or after your walk.  There’s a food truck along the track as well.  \n \nWhen you arrive the parking attendants direct you to a spot\, then it’s a decent walk to the start of the attraction before you even begin.  It’s suggested to arrive 15-30 minutes ahead of your start time and that’s good advice as the car park might take some time to negotiate and the food trucks and village at the start of the walk are worth exploring even if you don’t eat anything.  It’s a delightful vibe with strings of lights and the scent of marshmallows\, open fires and butterbeer in the air.   \nThe trail itself is along an undulating 3 kilometre track – it’s not a difficult walk with clear gravel paths for much of the way but there’s sloped sections and it is night time\, so sensible shoes and some walking stamina are definitely an advantage.   \nThe advice is the trail takes around 45-60 minutes to complete but we found it longer\, possibly due to queues at some of the interactive elements and photo ops.  None of them took too long but a handful of 5-15 minute waits certainly add up on top of the walk time.   \nWe were definitely going at a leisurely pace though\, making the most of the experience and soaking it all in.    \n \nThere are scenes and references to the Harry Potter books and movies as well as Fantastic Beasts along the trail\, with props\, lighting\, sound and other effects immersing visitors into the world.  Our children found the spiders and dementor a bit creepy\, but these areas can be quickly passed and most of the trail is full of the more wondrous creatures and even a favourite character or two can be spotted.  Audio clips from the films play at certain points and add a lot to the atmosphere.   \nWe went as a family of 5 with two Harry Potter fan children\, their parents who are also familiar with the wizarding world\, and Grandma who has read a book or two of Harry Potter\, but wouldn’t consider herself a fan.  We all found the hight tech production to be enthralling and a sensory delight.  If any visitors are sensitive to lights\, sounds or aren’t used to walking for over an hour\, please consider making adjustments.   \nThe village is at the beginning and end of the looped track\, with ample seating and a cozy atmosphere with ambient music and lighting with plenty of food options.  It’s worth going to the port-a-loos here – the kids loved to hear their favourite ghost haunting the toilets\, just as she does in Hogwarts! We even tried a Butterbeer\, which was very sweet and an enjoyable treat after the walk.   \nAll in all\, this was a premium Harry Potter experience (with a price tag to match) – but will make unforgettable enchanting memories for fans and muggles alike.
