SUMMARY:Make\, Believe\, Magic
DESCRIPTION:The Worlds of The Jim Henson Company\nTo mark 70 years of The Jim Henson Company\, QAGOMA in Brisbane is opening a huge exhibition all about how the magic actually gets made. Founded by Jim and Jane Henson in 1955\, the company gave us the Muppets\, Sesame Street\, Fraggle Rock\, The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth\, and they are still leading the way in puppetry today. \nWhat kids will see\nHundreds of objects fill the space\, including real puppets\, animatronic creatures\, props\, costumes\, original drawings and clips from the screen. Kids get to see the journey from hand-made puppets right through to today’s animatronics and digital wizardry\, and learn how creature designers dream up a character from scratch. \nThe showstopper is a world first. The Great Hall set from the Emmy winning series Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock has been recreated so families can step behind the scenes onto a working puppeteer’s film set. \nGood to know \nKids under 5 get in free and don’t need a ticket\nTicket categories cover children 5 to 12\, youth 13 to 25\, adults\, concession and QAGOMA members\nTickets are through QTIX\, the official ticketing service. Be careful with resellers \nGOMA is fully accessible and pram friendly \nPlan your visit\nWhere: GOMA\, Stanley Place\, South Brisbane\nWhen: Opens 12 September 2026 (Until 18th April)\nTickets: Via QTIX\nAges: Great for all ages\, especially anyone who has ever loved a Muppet \nGet tickets \nOrganised by QAGOMA in collaboration with The Jim Henson Company\, and opening in association with Brisbane Festival.

SUMMARY:The Night Sky exhibition at Landsborough Museum
DESCRIPTION:Uncover how artificial light reshapes our natural environment at The Night Sky exhibition at Landsborough Museum\, running from October 2026 to February 2027. Just an hour north of Brisbane\, local families can explore interactive displays on light pollution\, dark sky conservation\, and simple steps to protect our evening skies. \nThe Night Sky exhibition at Landsborough Museum\nThe Night Sky exhibition at Landsborough Museum looks at the important role darkness plays in our lives and the natural world. As artificial light increasingly brightens our nights\, the exhibition shows how light pollution affects wildlife\, ecosystems and our long connection to the night. \nVisitors can learn about the science behind our shrinking night skies\, the global Dark Skies movement and the Sunshine Coast’s new Dark Sky Reserve in the hinterland. Interactive displays and local stories encourage people to look up\, switch off and be more aware of the dark. \nIt’s a great reason to make the trip north from Brisbane\, with Landsborough about an hour’s drive up the Bruce Highway. Visitors leave with practical ideas for reducing light pollution and protecting the night sky for future generations. \nEntry is free\, and group bookings are preferred. The exhibition can be viewed during the museum’s opening hours. Visitors with a photo of the Sunshine Coast night sky can share it for a chance to be featured in a community digital display within the exhibition. \nPlan your visit\nWhen: Friday 2nd October 2026 to Saturday 20th February 2027 \nWhere: Landsborough Museum\, 4 Maleny Street\, Landsborough 4550 \nMore information here
