DESCRIPTION:Discover inspiring outdoor artwork at the Brisbane Sculpture Festival starting this August 2026. Held at the Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens\, this event showcases incredible works from local artists. It offers Brisbane kids and parents a wonderful opportunity to explore a scenic sculpture trail and enjoy hands-on art demonstrations together. \nBrisbane Sculpture Festival 2026\nMt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens will come alive with creativity as the Brisbane Sculpture Festival returns\, turning the gardens into an inspiring outdoor gallery the whole family can enjoy. \nPresented by Sculptors Queensland\, the free event features both indoor and outdoor exhibitions showcasing works by some of Queensland’s most prominent sculptors\, from bold and contemporary to whimsical and thought-provoking. Every piece is available for purchase\, and visitors are encouraged to vote in the People’s Choice award for their favourites. A gold coin donation or raffle ticket purchase is appreciated. \nThe indoor exhibition is held at the Mt Coot-tha Auditorium from 1st to 9th August (open daily 10am to 4pm)\, where visitors can view works up close and speak directly with the sculptors. \nThe outdoor sculpture trail winds through the beautiful botanic gardens from 1st August to 30th October (open daily 10am to 4pm)\, with sculptures of all shapes and sizes tucked among the greenery. \nSculpture demonstrations will be held on selected dates throughout the festival\, and small group tours of the outdoor trail are available by appointment. Local families can explore neighbourhood parks or their own backyards to spend 20 minutes spotting wild birds\, helping collect vital conservation data while connecting with nature and entering the draw to win fantastic prizes. \nAussie Bird Count 2026\nThe Aussie Bird Count is Australia’s largest citizen science project\, inviting people of all ages to head outdoors and discover the amazing birdlife in their own backyards\, balconies\, parks and schoolyards. \nOrganised by BirdLife Australia\, the annual count runs during National Bird Week and helps build a national snapshot of how Australia’s birds are faring. Birds have amazing stories to tell about the health of the environment\, and right now\, one in six Australian birds faces the threat of extinction\, making it more important than ever to pay attention. \nThe Aussie Bird Count will return from 19–25 October 2026. In just 20 minutes\, anyone can help build a picture of how the country’s feathered friends are faring and contribute to something that really counts. \nIt’s a fun and easy way for families\, schools and communities to connect with nature while contributing to real science. \nIn 2025\, tens of thousands of people across the country stepped outside to watch\, count and celebrate Australia’s amazing birds\, helping BirdLife Australia take a national snapshot of the birds we share our backyards\, parks\, schools and skies with. Perfect for local families\, this world-famous public art installation leads the River Pride Parade\, bringing immense joy\, playful photo opportunities\, and memorable moments along the water for kids of all ages. \n\n\nrubber duck\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFor the first time\, Brisbane welcomes the much-loved 15-metre-tall Rubber Duck to the Brisbane River/Maiwar. \nThe iconic Rubber Duck\, a large-scale public artwork by internationally acclaimed Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman\, arrives in a special Brisbane-exclusive hot pink edition\, a first for the famous global art installation. The duck will make its way from the CBD\, eventually settling near the Brisbane Powerhouse in New Farm. \nA global phenomenon\, Rubber Duck has captivated millions of people around the world\, with hundreds of thousands gathering to experience the artwork in cities including Sydney\, Hong Kong\, Seoul\, Osaka\, Amsterdam and São Paulo.
