As artificial light increasingly brightens our nights\, the exhibition shows how light pollution affects wildlife\, ecosystems and our long connection to the night. \nVisitors can learn about the science behind our shrinking night skies\, the global Dark Skies movement and the Sunshine Coast’s new Dark Sky Reserve in the hinterland. Interactive displays and local stories encourage people to look up\, switch off and be more aware of the dark. \nIt’s a great reason to make the trip north from Brisbane\, with Landsborough about an hour’s drive up the Bruce Highway. Visitors leave with practical ideas for reducing light pollution and protecting the night sky for future generations. \nEntry is free\, and group bookings are preferred. The exhibition can be viewed during the museum’s opening hours. DESCRIPTION:Welcome a giant 15-metre hot pink Rubber Duck as it floats down the Brisbane River this October and November 2026. Perfect for local families\, this world-famous public art installation leads the River Pride Parade\, bringing immense joy\, playful photo opportunities\, and memorable moments along the water for kids of all ages. \n\n\nrubber duck\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFor the first time\, Brisbane welcomes the much-loved 15-metre-tall Rubber Duck to the Brisbane River/Maiwar. \nThe iconic Rubber Duck\, a large-scale public artwork by internationally acclaimed Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman\, arrives in a special Brisbane-exclusive hot pink edition\, a first for the famous global art installation. The duck will make its way from the CBD\, eventually settling near the Brisbane Powerhouse in New Farm. \nA global phenomenon\, Rubber Duck has captivated millions of people around the world\, with hundreds of thousands gathering to experience the artwork in cities including Sydney\, Hong Kong\, Seoul\, Osaka\, Amsterdam and São Paulo.
