DESCRIPTION:RAAF Amberley Aviation Heritage Centre Sunday Open Days\nShowcasing the incredible history of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF)\, the Heritage Centre has displays that include Sabre and Mirage fighter jets\, a flawless WWII Jeep\, Sioux and Iroquois helicopters and a Caribou airlifter. The museum pays particular attention to the history of aviation at the RAAF Amberley base and the RAAF’s role in South East Queensland in war and peace time. \nThe ever-growing historical collection is housed in two aircraft hangars at the RAAF Amberley base and does change from time to time\, as exhibits are restored and brought in or returned after a loan period. \nA group of passionate reservists and volunteers are on hand to guide visitors through the RAAF Amberley Aviation Heritage Centre’s displays\, passing on fascinating stories and a priceless educational experience with every visit. Every single one of these enthusiasts is involved in the research\, restoration and display of the aircraft and the items that make up the collection. \nOne of the best things about the displays at the Heritage Centre is that you can touch almost everything. There’s even the opportunity to sit in the cockpit of an F-111. Photos are always welcome and highly encouraged within the display hangars\, so your Brisbane Kids can capture their aviation adventures when you visit. \nThe RAAF Amberley Heritage Centre is open 9am to 3pm\, Thursdays\, and the usually the third Sunday of every month (excluding December & January). \nEntry requirements:\nAmberley Heritage Centre is located on RAAF Base Amberley. On arrival at the front gate\, visitors will met by one of the Heritage Centre team members. \nVisitors must bring: \n\nCopy of Online Base Induction completion email\nReservation confirmation\nPhotographic identification as recorded on your reservation confirmation (Photos of identification documents are not accepted).\n\nPets\, alcohol and firearms are prohibited on base. DESCRIPTION:Ipswich Art Gallery is glowing with creativity this school term\, with IAG Kids: LightPlay inviting little ones into a dazzling world where light becomes an element of discovery\, imagination\, and play. \nIAG Kids: LightPlay details\nStep into an immersive environment filled with light boxes\, overhead projectors\, torches\, and translucent materials. Kids can investigate how light behaves\, experiment with kaleidoscopic patterns\, build and arrange shapes\, and even use their own bodies to paint with light as colours mix and shadows stretch in unexpected ways. \nLightPlay is intentionally designed to encourage collaborative play\, experimentation\, and discovery-based learning — making it as enriching as it is fun. \nWhat to expect\nInside LightPlay\, children can explore and experiment with: \n\nLight boxes and overhead projectors to create glowing patterns and scenes\nTorches and translucent materials to discover how light interacts with shapes and textures\nKaleidoscopic colour mixing and shadow play\nOpen-ended\, hands-on creative installations that shift and change with every movement\n\nThe experience is recommended for children aged 3–8\, though all ages are welcome to come along and explore. \nPlan your visit\nWhen: Saturday 28 March – Sunday 12 July 2026\, open daily 10am – 5pm\nWhere: Ipswich Art Gallery\, d’Arcy Doyle Place\, Ipswich QLD 4305\nCost: FREE\nAge: Recommended for children aged 3–8\, all ages welcome\nNote: Facilitated and organised groups require a confirmed booking.
