Perfect for families\, this free community event features live music\, Highland cows to cuddle\, old-fashioned lawn games\, market stalls\, and thousands of yellow rubber ducks racing down the creek. \nDarlington State School Markets & The Great Duck Race 2026\nTucked in the scenic hills of the Lost World Valley\, the Darlington Community Markets are a country day out with heart\, where community spirit\, local goodness and a wide armed country welcome come together at Darlington State School. \nEntry is free. The markets have become a highly anticipated annual affair\, offering a unique country experience with live music\, great food and coffee\, fun activities and plenty of quality stalls to shop from\, with a focus on home grown\, homemade\, handmade\, local\, organic\, upcycled and fair trade goods. \nHighlights include live music from Griffin County\, a sausage sizzle\, burger stand and cake stall from the Darlington State School P&C\, coffee from Lost World Coffee\, ice cream and desserts from The Dessert Co\, and historic displays from Philip Thomson OAM’s Bullock Team. There will be free old fashioned country games and novelty races\, Highland cows to pat and cuddle from Northview Highlands\, dance performances by BeauDance Academy\, line dancing by Stomp and Scuff Linedancing\, fire brigade trucks\, leather work info sessions by Chris Rohan\, classic trucks from the Heritage Truck Association Australia Inc\, and face painting by Glitter and Giggles Face Painting. \nThe day’s highlight is the famous Darlington Duck Race\, with thousands of bright yellow ducks tumbling down the creek in a race to the finish line. DESCRIPTION:Discover a whimsical mountain tradition at the Tamborine Mountain Scarecrow Festival this October and November 2026. Perfect for Brisbane families\, this weekend event features a free self-guided trail of creative scarecrows\, plus live music\, local food vans\, market stalls\, and friendly farm animal encounters at Cauldron Distillery. \nTamborine Mountain Scarecrow Festival 2026\nFor one wonderfully weird weekend each spring\, Tamborine Mountain is taken over by scarecrows\, hundreds of them. The Tamborine Mountain Scarecrow Festival is an annual celebration of the mountain lifestyle\, with locals\, families\, schools\, community groups and businesses creating scarecrows ranging from the traditional to the clever\, colourful and completely bonkers. \nVisitors can follow the Spot the Scarecrow Discovery Trail\, a free\, self guided treasure hunt around homes and businesses displaying scarecrows of every kind. There’s a serious-ish competitive streak too\, with categories including Creative\, Traditional\, Business\, Family\, Child\, Celebrity and First Time in Field\, culminating in the coveted Best in Show. \nWhile the trail itself is free\, the festival also includes a ticketed celebration event at Cauldron Distillery. The afternoon features Highland cows\, live music\, food vans\, market stalls from local makers and producers\, performances by local stage groups\, the Scarecrow Festival presentations and awards\, and drinks from Cauldron Distillery. \nFamilies are encouraged to bring a chair or picnic blanket and settle in for the afternoon.
