DESCRIPTION:Discover inspiring outdoor artwork at the Brisbane Sculpture Festival starting this August 2026. Held at the Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens\, this event showcases incredible works from local artists. It offers Brisbane kids and parents a wonderful opportunity to explore a scenic sculpture trail and enjoy hands-on art demonstrations together. \nBrisbane Sculpture Festival 2026\nMt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens will come alive with creativity as the Brisbane Sculpture Festival returns\, turning the gardens into an inspiring outdoor gallery the whole family can enjoy. \nPresented by Sculptors Queensland\, the free event features both indoor and outdoor exhibitions showcasing works by some of Queensland’s most prominent sculptors\, from bold and contemporary to whimsical and thought-provoking. Every piece is available for purchase\, and visitors are encouraged to vote in the People’s Choice award for their favourites. Launching with the spectacular\, free Riverfire fireworks display on Saturday 5 September\, the citywide celebration features a mix of ticketed and free events perfect for curious minds of all ages. \nBrisbane Festival 2026\nBrisbane Festival 2026 runs from 4 to 26 September\, filling the city’s rivers\, gardens\, and iconic landmarks with three weeks of free and ticketed spring celebrations for the whole family. \nThe festival launches on Saturday 5 September with Riverfire by Australian Retirement Trust\, Brisbane’s biggest night of the year. From dusk\, the sky and river come alive with Australian Defence Force flypasts and a spectacular fireworks display from Foti Fireworks\, lighting up the skyline from the Story Bridge to South Bank. It’s completely free to watch from riverside spots\, parks\, and rooftops right across the city\, with live entertainment from around 4pm ahead of the fireworks. \nRunning every night of the festival\, 4–26 September\, is Bright Nights by ANZ – a free\, 15-minute water\, light and sound spectacular staged on the Brisbane River at Festival Village\, South Bank. Floating fountains\, waterscreens and water jets shooting up to 80 metres high are lit by a dazzling laser show\, set to an exclusive soundtrack from The Veronicas. DESCRIPTION:The Worlds of The Jim Henson Company\nTo mark 70 years of The Jim Henson Company\, QAGOMA in Brisbane is opening a huge exhibition all about how the magic actually gets made. Founded by Jim and Jane Henson in 1955\, the company gave us the Muppets\, Sesame Street\, Fraggle Rock\, The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth\, and they are still leading the way in puppetry today. \nWhat kids will see\nHundreds of objects fill the space\, including real puppets\, animatronic creatures\, props\, costumes\, original drawings and clips from the screen. Kids get to see the journey from hand-made puppets right through to today’s animatronics and digital wizardry\, and learn how creature designers dream up a character from scratch. \nThe showstopper is a world first.
