DESCRIPTION:Discover inspiring outdoor artwork at the Brisbane Sculpture Festival starting this August 2026. Held at the Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens\, this event showcases incredible works from local artists. It offers Brisbane kids and parents a wonderful opportunity to explore a scenic sculpture trail and enjoy hands-on art demonstrations together. \nBrisbane Sculpture Festival 2026\nMt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens will come alive with creativity as the Brisbane Sculpture Festival returns\, turning the gardens into an inspiring outdoor gallery the whole family can enjoy. \nPresented by Sculptors Queensland\, the free event features both indoor and outdoor exhibitions showcasing works by some of Queensland’s most prominent sculptors\, from bold and contemporary to whimsical and thought-provoking. Every piece is available for purchase\, and visitors are encouraged to vote in the People’s Choice award for their favourites. A gold coin donation or raffle ticket purchase is appreciated. \nThe indoor exhibition is held at the Mt Coot-tha Auditorium from 1st to 9th August (open daily 10am to 4pm)\, where visitors can view works up close and speak directly with the sculptors. \nThe outdoor sculpture trail winds through the beautiful botanic gardens from 1st August to 30th October (open daily 10am to 4pm)\, with sculptures of all shapes and sizes tucked among the greenery. \nSculpture demonstrations will be held on selected dates throughout the festival\, and small group tours of the outdoor trail are available by appointment. DESCRIPTION:The Worlds of The Jim Henson Company\nTo mark 70 years of The Jim Henson Company\, QAGOMA in Brisbane is opening a huge exhibition all about how the magic actually gets made. Founded by Jim and Jane Henson in 1955\, the company gave us the Muppets\, Sesame Street\, Fraggle Rock\, The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth\, and they are still leading the way in puppetry today. \nWhat kids will see\nHundreds of objects fill the space\, including real puppets\, animatronic creatures\, props\, costumes\, original drawings and clips from the screen. Kids get to see the journey from hand-made puppets right through to today’s animatronics and digital wizardry\, and learn how creature designers dream up a character from scratch. \nThe showstopper is a world first. Wander through an enchanting 800-metre event route and meet along the way 11 luminous Australian animals – brought to life in stunning colour and sound as sculptural lanterns. From a kangaroo and koala to platypus\, dingo and a green tree frog\, each artwork celebrates the beauty\, character and stories of Queensland’s remarkable natural environment. \nDesigned by award-winning creative studio Ample Projects in collaboration with First Nations artists Casey Coolwell-Fisher and Nathan Peckham\, Botanic By Night: NightGlow illuminates Brisbane’s botanic world like never before through glowing artworks and immersive storytelling\, informed by sacred First Nations knowledge.
