DESCRIPTION:RAAF Amberley Aviation Heritage Centre Sunday Open Days\nShowcasing the incredible history of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF)\, the Heritage Centre has displays that include Sabre and Mirage fighter jets\, a flawless WWII Jeep\, Sioux and Iroquois helicopters and a Caribou airlifter. The museum pays particular attention to the history of aviation at the RAAF Amberley base and the RAAF’s role in South East Queensland in war and peace time. \nThe ever-growing historical collection is housed in two aircraft hangars at the RAAF Amberley base and does change from time to time\, as exhibits are restored and brought in or returned after a loan period. \nA group of passionate reservists and volunteers are on hand to guide visitors through the RAAF Amberley Aviation Heritage Centre’s displays\, passing on fascinating stories and a priceless educational experience with every visit. Every single one of these enthusiasts is involved in the research\, restoration and display of the aircraft and the items that make up the collection. \nOne of the best things about the displays at the Heritage Centre is that you can touch almost everything. There’s even the opportunity to sit in the cockpit of an F-111. Photos are always welcome and highly encouraged within the display hangars\, so your Brisbane Kids can capture their aviation adventures when you visit. \nThe RAAF Amberley Heritage Centre is open 9am to 3pm\, Thursdays\, and the usually the third Sunday of every month (excluding December & January). \nEntry requirements:\nAmberley Heritage Centre is located on RAAF Base Amberley. Each child can pot up their choice of native plant to take home and create habitat for local wildlife – a wonderful hands-on way to connect kids with nature and conservation. \nThe daily program runs as follows: \nTuesday 30 June: Wonder Wagon Activities\, 9:30am to 11:30am\nWednesday 1 July: Nature Connection Storytelling\, 10am to 12pm\nThursday 2 July: Park Tales (great for ages 0–5)\, sessions at 9:30am and 10:30am\nFriday 3 July: Explore Kumbartcho with Agents of Discovery\, from 10am\nMonday 6 July: Sanctuary closed\, but the rainforest paths and picnic area are open – explore and have a picnic!\nTuesday 7 July: All day self-guided Scavenger Hunt\nWednesday 8 July: All day Bark Art for Kids activity\nThursday 9 July: Family Friendly Guided Walk\, sessions at 10am and 11am\nFriday 10 July: Friday Fairy Fun and Explore the Fairy Garden\, all day \nPlease note that Mondays (29 June and 6 July) the Environmental Centre is closed\, though the playground and rainforest paths remain open for exploration. \nPlan your visit\nWhen: Tuesday 30th June – Friday 10 July 2026.
