It is a wonderful opportunity for little Queenslanders to explore creative play and cultural storytelling \nUnder eights celebration day at State Library\nExplore State Library\, brought to life for Under Eights Week\, with a full day of hands-on activities\, performances and playful experiences. With art making\, storytelling\, music workshops and quiet spaces to unwind\, there’s something for every child to enjoy at their own pace. Stay for an hour or play the whole day. This is a relaxed and welcoming way to celebrate little Queenslanders. \nWhile you’re there don’t miss The Corner\, recently redeveloped with beautiful spaces to gather and connect\, a dedicated art studio\, giant building blocks\, nooks for books and imaginations and a garden courtyard to explore\, The Corner is purpose built for learning and play. \nProgram:\nWelcome to Country and smoking ceremony\n10am\, The Corner Courtyard \nThe Buttery Music School\n10:30–11:30 am and 12:30–1:30 pm\, Talking Circle\nBelt out some tunes\, shake the sillies out and join in our loud\, joyful and slightly chaotic family karaoke choir experience. Packed with nostalgic singalong anthems\, bubbles\, percussion\, dancing and big feel-good energy\, these interactive sessions are designed for parents\, carers\, babies and little rockstars alike. \nCirca drop in workshop\n10 am – 2 pm\nChildren are invited to learn new skills\, build confidence and try their hand at hula-hooping\, juggling and more. Led by trainers from Circa Academy\, the workshop encourages movement\, creativity and imagination in a safe\, supportive and non-competitive environment. \nMake & Meld drop in wooden robot workshop\n10 am – 2 pm\, kuril dhagun\nPerfect for under eights\, this playful workshop invites young makers to safely explore real woodworking tools including hammers and screwdrivers as they build and decorate their own wooden robot character to take home. Focused on creativity\, sustainability and STEAM learning\, Make & Meld’s workshops inspire children to think like designers\, work with their hands and become completely immersed in the joy of making. \nNunukul Yuggera drop in boomerang painting workshop\n11 am – 2 pm\, kuril dhagun\nChildren and families are invited to learn traditional painting techniques and explore storytelling through art while decorating their own wooden boomerang to take home.
