SUMMARY:Round The Twist The Musical
DESCRIPTION:Round The Twist The Musical\nThis brand-new Australian musical by Paul Hodge will be directed by Simon Phillips and brings to life the unforgettable characters and off-the-wall capers of the hit 90s TV show Round The Twist\, which was based on iconic Australian author Paul Jennings’ seminal short stories. \nIn an old lighthouse\, single dad Tony Twist and his kids Pete\, Linda and Bronson embark on a magical adventure to unravel a one-hundred-year-old mystery and rewrite history. \nRound The Twist The Musical will cover episodes from the first two seasons of the television series and has Jennings’ blessing thanks to Hodge’s staunch faithfulness to the spirit of the show. \nDirector Simon Phillips said audiences should strap themselves in for a jam-packed and mind-bending theatre experience that’s unashamedly Australian. \nThe postcard perfect setting of Port Niranda will be realised by Designer Renée Mulder\, Lighting Designer Ben Hughes\, AV Designer Craig Wilkinson and Sound Designer Brady Watkins\, with James Dobinson as Music Supervisor\, Lucy O’Brien as Musical Director and Andrew Hallsworth as Choreographer. \nWriter of Book\, Music and Lyrics Paul Hodge said the musical was designed to be something you could bring the whole family to and was excited a whole new generation would get to experience the fun and zaniness of Round The Twist. \n“If you sing ‘Have you ever\, ever felt like this?’ to Aussies of a certain age\, they will immediately sing you the rest of the famous theme tune from Round The Twist. The theme song is critically important to the musical as a touchstone throughout\, and I’ve listened to a lot of contemporary Australian music to help create the musical language of the show\,” said Mr Hodge. \nThe world premiere season of Round The Twist The Musical is co-presented by QPAC and Queensland Theatre. With the original theme song by Andrew Duffield\, the musical is based on the television series produced by The Australian Children’s Television Foundation from the short stories of Paul Jennings. \nRound The Twist The Musical is supported by Restart Investment to Sustain and Expand (RISE) Fund – an Australian Government initiative\, Queensland Theatre’s Landmark Productions Fund Donors and Production Partner Griffith University. \nRound The Twist The Musical details\nWHEN: 12th November – 8th December 2024 \nWHERE: Playhouse\, QPAC\, South Brisbane \nDURATION: 2 hours 30 minutes\, including interval \nCOST: $79 – $99* (* A transaction fee of $7.20 applies.) \nTickets are available now via qpac.com.au.

SUMMARY:Make it Slow: IAG Kids X Slow Art Collective
DESCRIPTION:IAG Kids x Slow Art Collective\nThis summer\, visitors are invited to explore a hands-on\, immersive exhibition where everyone is encouraged to participate. Using everyday repurposed materials\, they can be transported into new creative spaces. The focus is not on the final product\, but on the process of making\, offering a chance to slow down and engage deeply with the act of creation. \nThe interactive installation invites audiences of all ages to explore themes of creativity\, environmental sustainability\, DIY culture\, and collaboration. It embodies the concept of ‘slow art\,’ promoting meaningful exchanges over quick monetary transactions\, and fosters cultural absorption through community connections by creating something together. This practice blurs the boundary between artists and viewers\, offering an alternative approach to contemporary art that tackles real-world issues. \nThe exhibition is proudly presented by the Slow Art Collective\, featuring interdisciplinary artists Chaco Kato and Dylan Martorell. \nIAG Kids x Slow Art Collective\nWhen: Saturday 23rd November 2024 – Sunday 2nd February 2025\, 10am — 5pm. \nWhere: Ipswich Art Gallery\, d’Arcy Doyle Place\, Ipswich QLD 4305 \nCost: Free \nMore information: IAG Kids x Slow Art Collective
