DESCRIPTION:Clean Up for Hatchlings – Sunshine Coast\nSunshine Coast Council\, in collaboration with TurtleCare Sunshine Coast\, ReefCheck Australia\, SeaLife Trust\, and Kabi Kabi Peoples Aboriginal Corporation\, invites the community to come together to help clean up Sunshine Coast beaches in preparation for hatchling turtles. \nEvent Details: \n6:00am – 7:30am: Beach clean-ups at various locations from Coolum to Caloundra. Volunteers can register to join one of 18 clean-up sites along the coast. \n8:00am – 10:00am: Thank-you celebration at Coopers Lookout Park\, on the south side of Kawana Surf Club\, Pacific Blvd\, Buddina\, QLD 4575. DESCRIPTION:Mooloolaba New Year’s Eve 2025\nMooloolaba’s New Year’s Eve is back! Celebrations will look a little different this year due to the Mooloolaba revitalisation project\, with construction works along Mooloolaba Esplanade. The 8.30pm and midnight fireworks will be launched from an offshore barge positioned in front of the HMAS Brisbane Lookout. \nSpectators will be able to enjoy excellent views from Maroochydore Beach in the north through to Point Cartwright in the south\, and Council is encouraging visitors to choose their preferred vantage point. Families can pack a picnic and enjoy the display along the coastline\, or book a table at a favourite restaurant or cruise to welcome the new year in style. \nLight\, family-friendly entertainment and roving performers will be found at the HMAS Brisbane Lookout\, Northern Parklands and along Beach Terrace from 5pm until midnight. Food trucks will be stationed at the HMAS Brisbane Lookout\, Beach Terrace and Mooloolaba Esplanade\, while local traders\, cafés and restaurants along the Esplanade will remain open to welcome both locals and visitors. \nEveryone is encouraged to plan their travel in advance to help minimise traffic and parking congestion. \nBuses\nPublic transport will be available at a discounted 50-cent fare\, with additional services operating every 15 minutes from 6pm to 1.30am. Travellers can plan their journey using the Translink Journey Planner. \nFree BikePark Service\nA supervised BikePark will be available on Mooloolaba Esplanade\, opposite Meta Street\, providing a secure place to store bikes\, e-bikes\, scooters and e-scooters throughout the evening. Mark the calendar for a day of enjoyment\, nature\, and community spirit. \nThe event aims to make a significant impact by planting 3\,000 trees\, shrubs\, and ground covers. This effort will provide essential food and habitat for local wildlife such as the eastern grey kangaroo\, wallum froglet\, brown quail\, Australian pipit\, and grey-headed flying foxes. \nThis free\, family-friendly event features:\n– Planting of 3\,000 shrubs and ground covers\n– Free small coffee for each adult\n– Free sausage sizzle\n– Interactive insect display by Bugs Ed.\, including the opportunity to hold a live stick insect\n– Live acoustic music by SoLar\n– Face painting by Holly Blossom\n– Creating bush critters with clay and seed pods\n– Information stalls\n– ClimateWatch Trail guided walks (bookings essential)\n– Nestbox monitoring activity (bookings essential) \nLimited car parking is available\, but a free park-and-ride bus service is provided from Landsborough\, Palmview\, Sippy Downs\, Caloundra\, Kawana\, Maroochydore\, and a shuttle bus from Peregian Springs State School. \nMost activities will be available throughout the event period\, allowing participants to drop in at any time and stay for as long as they wish. \nAll tools\, plants\, gloves\, and guidance are provided. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own drinking water and wear enclosed shoes and sun-safe clothing. To redeem a free small espresso coffee\, participants should bring their own reusable coffee cup. \nNo experience is required to join.
