This free public event will take place on Saturday 7 June\, from 6pm to 7pm\, on the sands just north of the Mooloolaba Surf Club. \nNamed after the Kabi Kabi word for ‘Humpback Whale’\, Tallo-Billa offers a powerful fusion of natural soundscapes\, Indigenous culture\, and digital art. Visitors will experience the hauntingly beautiful songs of migrating whales\, translated into stunning visual projections onto the beach\, creating a truly immersive and family-friendly spectacle. \nThe project is the vision of Kabi Kabi artist Lyndon Davis\, developed in collaboration with sound artist Dr Leah Barclay and photographer Dr Tricia King from the University of the Sunshine Coast. Drawing on Indigenous knowledge\, scientific research\, and cutting-edge technology\, the event highlights the deep cultural and ecological connections to the annual whale migration along Queensland’s coast. \nTallo-Billa marks a significant cultural moment for Mooloolaba and is a must-see for locals and visitors alike.
