  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to doโ€ฆ

As far as edible Christmas treats go for kids, you really cannot go past these super sweet and cute Meringue Christmas Trees.  Made from only a handful of ingredients and with only a few steps needed to make them, these adorable Christmas food items will look amazing on your dessert table spread this year.  To make your own edible Meringue Christmas Trees check out our easy-to-follow steps below.

What you need to make your Meringue Christmas Trees

ingredients for meringue christmas trees

To make your Meringue Christmas Trees you will need:

  • 4 x Eggs
  • 250g (or 1 cup) of Caster Sugar
  • Green Food Dye
  • Christmas sprinkles and stars (found at Woolworths)

How to make your Meringue Christmas Trees

Step 1:

Line two baking trays with baking paper and set the oven to 100 degrees (fan-forced).

Step 2:

Separate the egg whites from the eggs and place the four egg whites into a large mixing bowl.  Mix on medium-high speed with beaters until soft peaks form.

Step 3:

Gradually add the caster to the mix, one tablespoon at a time.  Make sure that you mix thoroughly with the beaters after each addition.  Continue until the mixture is thick, firm, glossy and large peaks form when you lift the beaters up.

Step 4:

Add in about 10 drops of food colouring (or as many as you need to get your desired colour). TIP: Add a few at a time and mix and then repeat so that you don’t put too many in at once.

Step 5:

Using a star piping tip, place all of the mixture in a large piping bag and pipe out individual Christmas tree mounds.

Step 6:

Add coloured sprinkles (as Christmas decorations) to the meringues and add one small gold edible star to the top of each one.

Step 7:

Place in the oven and cook for 1 hour.  When they have finished cooking, turn the oven off and open the oven door slightly and allow to cool in the oven for an additional hour.  This will stop them from cracking as they cool.

Step 8:

And just like that, you have your simply gorgeous easy Meringue Christmas Trees!
