National Simultaneous Storytime 2026 – Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller
Young families are encouraged to visit their local council library and take part in a joyful nationwide celebration of storytelling as National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) returns for 2026.
Now one of Australia’s most beloved annual reading events, NSS brings together millions of children, families, libraries, schools, and early learning centres to share the same story at the same time right across the country.
This year’s featured title is Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller, written by Adam Jackson and Adrian Lloyd and illustrated by Jake Minton. This energetic underdog story follows Luna Roo as she discovers her inner strength on the field, making it a wonderful and inspiring read for young audiences.
Local libraries will be hosting special NSS events, providing the perfect setting for families to gather, listen to the story, and take part in fun, literacy-focused activities. It is a wonderful opportunity to connect with the community, spark children’s imaginations, and nurture a love of books in a warm and welcoming environment.
With no cost to participate, families are simply encouraged to head to their nearest council library to join in the fun and be part of a nationwide moment of connection, laughter, and storytelling.
