Community Bushland Walk in September @ Government House
The Governor, in partnership with Health and Wellbeing Queensland, invites you to take part in a free community walk at the Fernberg Estate on Friday, 26th September 2025.
In keeping with Her Excellency’s pledge to promote a healthier Queensland, this special event will showcase the new bushland walking tracks at Fernberg – installed as a legacy project by Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo to encourage movement, mindfulness and connection with nature.
Falling within the school holiday period and on the eve of the Footy Finals weekend, this is a wonderful opportunity to explore the historic grounds of Government House while getting active, showing your team spirit, and supporting healthier communities. Whether you are cheering on the Brisbane Lions, the Broncos, or your own local club, you are encouraged to wear your team colours and add to the footy finals buzz.
Gates open at 8:45am and the walk will commence at 9am sharp and generally takes an hour, with visitors walking at their own pace around the bushland track.
All are welcome – just bring a water bottle, a hat, and your best friend, colleague or family member. Why not invite all of them!
Participants should have a medium level of fitness, as there are some challenging hills and uneven surfaces, including gravel pathways. Unfortunately, this event is not wheelchair accessible.
