Zero Waste Week @ CREEC

24 March - 27 March
Zero Waste Week @ CREEC

Zero Waste Week @ CREEC

Zero Waste Week at Caboolture Region Environmental Education Centre offers a full week of eco-friendly and nature-based activities in the lead up to the International Day of Zero Waste. The program invites the community to explore practical ways to reduce waste while enjoying hands-on experiences in a natural setting. With activities designed for a range of ages and interests, it is an ideal outing for families, individuals, and anyone keen to learn more about sustainable living.

Across the week, visitors can take part in a variety of themed sessions:

Tuesday features eco-craft activities focused on upcycling materials and reducing landfill, offering a creative and practical introduction to sustainability.

Wednesday welcomes upcycling expert Tegan from SendOn, who shares how retired climbing gear is transformed into functional everyday items. Participants will create and take home a macrame bracelet made from inner rope core. Bookings are essential, with the session recommended for adults and children aged 12 and over.

Thursday invites participants to roll up their sleeves for a ranger-led Bushcare experience, helping to maintain rainforest walking tracks while learning about local conservation efforts. Suitable for ages 6 and up, with all equipment provided.

Friday brings a fun and interactive close to the week, with a waste education van on site offering tips, challenges, and prizes. Visitors can test their knowledge with bin sorting activities, enjoy additional crafts, and meet crowd favourite mascot GOGO.

Zero Waste Week at CREEC is a chance to connect with the environment, learn new skills, and be inspired to make small changes that have a big impact.
