Brisbane Central State School 150th Spectacular
Brisbane Central State School is proudly celebrating its 150th anniversary in 2025. Established in 1875, the school is one of Queensland’s oldest continuously operating state schools, located in the heart of Spring Hill, just a short walk from Brisbane’s city centre. Originally known as Brisbane Central Boys and Girls Schools, the site was purpose-built to support the growing inner-city population of the late 19th century.
With a long-standing tradition of educational excellence, cultural diversity and strong community spirit, Brisbane Central has grown from a small school into a vibrant learning hub. Thousands of students have passed through its classrooms, and the school is excited to welcome past and present families, friends and alumni to celebrate this remarkable milestone.
The school’s P&C has planned a day of celebration filled with fun, entertainment and activities for all ages. Visitors can look forward to live performances from Flipside Circus, S.H.A.K.E. Dance School and more throughout the day. There will be a petting zoo, market stalls, food trucks, and a range of games and challenges, including inflatable games, obstacle courses, rock climbing, sideshow alley, wooden tabletop games and Coach Max Football Academy sessions. Some entertainment activities will require a paid ticket to participate, which will be released in June 2025.
A special Alumni Morning Tea will be held at 11:30am, and entry to the school fete is free all day. Attendees are encouraged to register their interest to ensure they receive the latest event updates. It’s set to be a wonderful celebration of 150 years of learning, connection and community at Brisbane Central State School.
