Held at Holland Park West, this free-entry cultural celebration features live traditional music and dancing, authentic cuisine like varenyky and borsch, and completely free kids’ rides, a giant slide, and face painting for local families to enjoy.

Brisbane’s Ukrainian Festival 2026

a day of culture, music, food, and community at the annual Ukrainian Festival. This free event marks the 35th anniversary of Ukrainian Independence Day and raises funds to support displaced Ukrainians rebuilding their lives in Queensland.

Organised by the Ukrainian Community of Queensland Inc. (UCQ) and proudly sponsored by the Department of Home Affairs, the Queensland Government, and Brisbane City Council, this year’s festival is Queensland’s largest Ukrainian community celebration. Held just two days before Ukraine’s Independence Day on 24th August, it brings Queenslanders together to celebrate Ukrainian culture while recognising the resilience of a community that continues to be impacted by war.

Cultural Performances: Enjoy a full day of live entertainment featuring acclaimed Ukrainian singers Yuliya Rai and Iryna Pyrog, alongside traditional dancers, musicians, and cultural performances throughout the day.

Special Installation: A giant handcrafted ’35’ installation adorned with sunflowers and community messages of hope marks 35 years of Ukrainian independence. Visitors are invited to write messages of support and reflection, creating a powerful community tribute to those affected by the ongoing conflict.

Authentic Cuisine: Savour traditional Ukrainian dishes including Varenyky (potato and cheese dumplings), Borsch (iconic beetroot soup), Holubtsi (cabbage rolls), Pyrizhky (savoury meat buns), traditional salads, and Medivnyk honey cake.

Kids Activities: Free children’s rides, a giant slide, face painting, market stalls, and cultural activities for the whole family.

Take home a sunflower or flower crown – symbols of hope and resilience, with proceeds supporting the Ukrainian community in Queensland.

Admission is free and everyone is welcome. Join the Queensland Ukrainian community for a day of cultural enrichment and Vechirka (joyous celebration)
