The Chinchilla Melon Festival is a biennial celebration of all things melon, held every February in the heart of Australia’s ‘Melon Capital.’ Head out of the city, gather your friends, and dive into the wild and wacky fun of the Western Downs. Chinchilla is responsible for producing a quarter of the country’s melons, and this festival brings the community together to celebrate in the best way possible.
Get ready for quirky events like melon skiing, melon iron man, melon bungee, and melon tossing, plus classic challenges such as pip spitting and melon bullseye. There’s non-stop entertainment for all ages, so don your oldest clothes and get ready to join in the melon madness. Just be warned—you might leave a little stickier than you came!
Chinchilla is a rural town and locality in the Western Downs Region, approximately 300 kilometres west-northwest of Brisbane. Camping for 2025 will be at the Chinchilla Polocrosse Grounds and the Chinchilla Show Grounds, bookings required. Melon Festival Camping 2025
