The Scenic Rim Clydesdale Spectacular returns to the Beaudesert Showgrounds, bringing with it four unforgettable days of tradition, heritage, and horsepower. Recognised as the richest Clydesdale Show in the Southern Hemisphere, this much-anticipated event celebrates all Clydesdales great and small — from tiny Shetland ponies to towering Shire horses.
Across the weekend, the gentle giants of the horse world take centre stage as grand champions are judged, rare trades are demonstrated, and the breed’s rich history in Australia is honoured. Visitors can witness traditional skills like blacksmithing, harness making, and wheelwrighting, along with horse-drawn demonstrations and impressive driving displays in the main arena. The Supreme Champion Clydesdale Exhibit takes home $5,000 in cash and is crowned winner of “The Thistle” Champion of Champions.
The event also features a jam-packed program of entertainment including the Queensland Whip Cracking Championships, World Billy Boiling Championships, working dog demonstrations, and elegant performances by the Friesian Horse Troupe, plus the World Plaiting Titles drawing top competitors from across Australia and beyond.
In a tribute to the region’s Scottish roots, the weekend includes a powerful massing of Pipes and Drums, the Calling of the Clans, a Clydesdale and Clan class, and traditional caber tossing. Guests can sample haggis burgers, enjoy the whisky bar, and Scots are encouraged to wear their clan kilts with pride.
Held in the heart of the Scenic Rim, the Clydesdale Spectacular is a true celebration of heritage, community and local flavour — the perfect reason to visit, stay and explore this stunning part of Queensland.
