Cancer Council’s Daffodil Day is back on Thursday 20 August, filling city streets, shopping centres, train stations and workplaces with a sea of cheerful yellow blooms.
Head into Brisbane CBD and you’ll find King George Square transformed into a Garden of Hope, with a beautiful 450 flower LEGO daffodil display at its centre. Each flower represents an Australian who will be diagnosed with cancer that day, a small but powerful reminder of why this event matters so much.
Pop by to pick up a bunch of fresh daffodils, grab some merchandise, write a message of support or make a donation. Every dollar raised goes towards cancer research, prevention programs and support services that help Queensland families.
This year marks 40 years of Daffodil Day, and the progress since it began is remarkable. Back in 1986, the five year cancer survival rate was 46%. Thanks to decades of fundraising, that figure now sits at 72%.
