Diwali Indian Festival of Lights in King George Square
Diwali is a joyous celebration observed across Indian communities, symbolising the triumph of light over darkness, hope over despair and good over evil. Traditionally, people create colourful rangolis from coloured powders or flowers, light up homes and streets with lights and diyas, and share gifts, sweets and savoury treats with loved ones.
The Federation of Indian Communities of Queensland (FICQ) presents the 2026 Diwali Celebration, Festival of Lights, at King George Square in the Brisbane CBD on Friday 6 November, from 11am to 10pm. The day features cultural performances, music, dance, food, activities and community showcases, bringing the community together to celebrate Indian culture, unity and Queensland’s multicultural spirit.
One Celebration. One Community. A Thousand Lights!
