Doonan Planting Festival – Sunshine Coast
Families and friends are invited to a fun-filled day dedicated to uniting for a greener tomorrow. Together, everyone can make a difference, one tree at a time. Mark the calendar for a day of enjoyment, nature, and community spirit.
The event aims to make a significant impact by planting 3,000 trees, shrubs, and ground covers. This effort will provide essential food and habitat for local wildlife such as the eastern grey kangaroo, wallum froglet, brown quail, Australian pipit, and grey-headed flying foxes.
This free, family-friendly event features:
– Planting of 3,000 shrubs and ground covers
– Free small coffee for each adult
– Free sausage sizzle
– Interactive insect display by Bugs Ed., including the opportunity to hold a live stick insect
– Live acoustic music by SoLar
– Face painting by Holly Blossom
– Creating bush critters with clay and seed pods
– Information stalls
– ClimateWatch Trail guided walks (bookings essential)
– Nestbox monitoring activity (bookings essential)
Limited car parking is available, but a free park-and-ride bus service is provided from Landsborough, Palmview, Sippy Downs, Caloundra, Kawana, Maroochydore, and a shuttle bus from Peregian Springs State School.
Most activities will be available throughout the event period, allowing participants to drop in at any time and stay for as long as they wish.
All tools, plants, gloves, and guidance are provided. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own drinking water and wear enclosed shoes and sun-safe clothing. To redeem a free small espresso coffee, participants should bring their own reusable coffee cup.
No experience is required to join. Everyone is encouraged to spread the word and be part of the positive change. See you there.
