Royal Queensland Show (Ekka) 2026 – Celebrating 150 Years of Queensland’s Favourite Annual Celebration

The Royal Queensland Show, affectionately known as the Ekka, returns to the Brisbane Showgrounds from 8 to 16 August 2026. As Queensland’s largest and most iconic annual event, the Ekka brings together city and country for nine days of unforgettable experiences.

Celebrating 150 years of tradition, the Ekka showcases Queensland’s rich agricultural roots, local produce, entertainment, food, and cultural diversity. Each year, the show features thousands of competition entries, from woodchopping to decorated cakes, and hosts over 10,000 animals, including cattle, horses, cats, dogs, and baby farm animals in the popular Animal Nursery. The Grand Parade on People’s Day remains a highlight, celebrating Queensland’s agricultural excellence.

Families and visitors of all ages can enjoy carnival rides, the Showbag Pavilion, Sideshow Alley, and EkkaNITES, a spectacular night-time entertainment show featuring fireworks, live music, and arena stunts. Signature show foods like the iconic Strawberry Sundae, Dagwood Dog, hot chips, and fairy floss are a must for visitors.

Run by the Royal National Agricultural and Industrial Association of Queensland (RNA), the Ekka is a Queensland tradition that unites generations, celebrates excellence, and honours the past while embracing the future.
