Family day at UQ Alumni Book Fair
More than 130,000 books, magazines, records and other pre-loved goodies will be available at this year’s UQ Alumni Book Fair from as little as $1.
This year, for the first time, Saturday’s activities will include a bumper day out with dozens of free talks, tours and kid-friendly pop-ups. Join in for a day of kids activities, talks, tours, lifelong learning and sporting activities the whole family can enjoy.
UQ’s beloved celebration of books is brought to you by Alumni Friends and many dedicated volunteers who have been busily sorting community donations. Every dollar raised goes towards student scholarships and research at UQ.
Register for the Book Fair before 12pm on Thursday 1 May 2025 and you’ll automatically go into the draw to win a box of books of your choosing.
The Fair kicks off on Friday 2 May, and at 6:30pm hundreds of works go under the hammer at the 2025 Rare Book Auction, including a first-edition copy of The Handmaid’s Tale, signed by Margaret Atwood and books from as early as the 1600s.

Casual parking is available under UQ Centre . Paid parking applies on Friday, 7am–9pm. Parking is free on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 May and on the public holiday, Monday 5 May. More information about parking at UQ.
