Family Pride hosted by Rainbow Families
Family Pride Disco, hosted by Rainbow Families, is an annual celebration created especially for LGBTQ+ parents, carers, children and allies. This free community event offers a relaxed and inclusive space where families in all their forms can come together to connect, celebrate and simply enjoy time on the dance floor.
The afternoon features a jumping castle, fairy floss, popcorn and snow cones, along with a DJ playing feel good tunes for all ages. Children can take part in dance floor games and prizes, face painting, balloon twisting, colouring and craft activities. A highlight of the program is a drag performance and Drag Story Time with Abril LaTrene, as well as a Messy Play area hosted by the Birkdale Rainbow Families Playgroup Coordinator.
A range of local LGBTQ+ community groups and allies will also be present to connect with families and share information, including Free Mom Hugs, headspace, PFLAG, Triple P, Open Doors Youth Service, Team Rainbow, QC, 2Spirits and Cares Gateway. Local LGBTQ+ businesses Shelf Lovers and Double Pride Rainbow will also be joining the celebration.
Family Pride Disco is all about visibility, joy and belonging, offering a welcoming space where every family is celebrated and encouraged to shine.
