This event is designed to engage, educate, and entertain the entire family, offering a rich array of activities that showcase the beauty and diversity of First Nations culture.
The First Nations markets will be a highlight of the day, featuring a wide selection of unique handcrafted goods, perfect for those who appreciate artisanal treasures. Alongside the markets, visitors can enjoy live performances that bring the vibrancy of Indigenous culture to life. Traditional Indigenous games will be available for everyone to participate in, providing a fun and educational experience.
There will also have the chance to delve into the rich traditions of bushfood through engaging yarns and cooking demonstrations. Aunty Dale Chapman of My Dilly Bag will share her knowledge during the Bushtucker Yarn, while Chris Jordan from Three Little Birds, together with Aunty Dale, will demonstrate bushfood cooking on an open fire.
For those interested in the arts, the event offers immersive workshops, including cultural arts and sound workshops presented by Cultural Collaboration. Young visitors, or “jarjums,” can participate in various arts activities designed especially for them.
The day will begin with a Welcome to Country by Shannon Ruska from Tribal Experiences, setting the tone for a day filled with cultural enrichment. Aunty Sharron will lead the crowd in a lively session of stomping, singing, and dancing, ensuring that everyone can join in the celebration.
Food trucks serving up delicious bushfood will be on-site to satisfy appetites, making it easy to enjoy the tastes of Indigenous cuisine while soaking in the atmosphere.
