Celebrate community creativity at the Kurilpa Derby in West End this September 2026. Brisbane parents and kids can watch the famous wheeled procession roll down Boundary Street, enjoy live music, cheer on youth dance performances, watch a quirky dog fashion show, and enter fun races during a free afternoon of entertainment.
Kurilpa Derby 2026
The Kurilpa Derby is returning on Sunday 13 September. It’s a free community event full of creativity, connection and community spirit.
The parade kicks things off, with participants meeting under the Dornoch Tce Bridge before rolling out shortly after. The wild and colourful wheeled procession takes over Boundary St, followed by an afternoon of races, live music, speeches, demos, performances, a doggy fashion parade and more.
West End Dance will be returning to the Derby with an upbeat performance guaranteed to get the crowd up and dancing. A local favourite since 2019, these talented young dancers will be celebrating the next wave of performers and are well worth cheering on.
8 Mile Yacht Club will also be bringing their boat and DJ booth back to the event, keeping the good vibes and tunes going throughout the day.
A food truck will be on site serving ice creams, snacks and cold drinks.

Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, support local artists, and help create the joyful atmosphere the Derby is known for.
The event acknowledges that it is held on unceded Aboriginal land, on the territories of the Jagera, Yuggera and Turrbal peoples, and pays respects to elders past, present and future.
