Landmarks light up purple for IBD | World IBD Day

Brisbane families can look forward to a spectacular sight this May 2026 as iconic local landmarks light up purple for World IBD Day. This special evening event offers a wonderful opportunity for parents and kids to view the illuminated city skyline while supporting an important cause for Crohn’s and Colitis awareness.

Landmarks light up purple for IBD | World IBD Day

May is Crohn’s and Colitis Australia Awareness Month, and 19 May marks World IBD Day. To raise awareness, over 120 landmarks across Australia will turn purple from 6pm.
Crohn’s and Colitis Australia (CCA) is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to support services, advocacy, and research funding for people affected by Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.

Queensland landmarks participating:

🟣Story Bridge, Brisbane
🟣Kangaroo Point Bridge, Brisbane
🟣The Gabba, Brisbane
🟣SkyPoint, Gold Coast
🟣Queensland Country Bank Stadium, Townsville

Raising awareness can start right at home – light up your house or garden purple and join the wave of support across Australia. It’s simple, fun and a great way to spark conversations in your local community.

Here are a few easy ideas to get glowing:
🟣Hang purple fairy lights in your garden
🟣Switch your porch bulb to a purple globe or set your smart globe to purple
🟣Add a splash of purple décor to your front yard or balcony
