The Landsborough Museum Street Festival 2026 is a free family event celebrating 50 years of one of South East Queensland’s most loved community museums. With live music, a petting zoo, kids’ activities, food stalls, heritage displays, and a brand new exhibition to explore, it’s a great day out for Brisbane families heading north for the school holidays. No bookings required, just turn up and enjoy.
Landsborough Museum Street Festival – Celebrating 50 Years
The Landsborough Museum is throwing open the streets for a milestone worth celebrating. To mark 50 years since the Landsborough Historical Society first opened its museum doors in April 1976, this free community street festival promises a packed day of live music, hands-on activities, heritage displays, and plenty of fun for kids of all ages.
The festival is a fantastic excuse to take the family beyond Brisbane for a day out on the Sunshine Coast, with something for everyone from toddlers to grandparents. Kids can bounce on the jumping castle, visit the animal petting zoo, get their faces painted, and check out classic cars, while parents browse local craft stalls, council displays, and grab a sausage sizzle courtesy of the Scouts. The Coastal Discovery Van, Ambulance display, and Heritage Library will also be on show, alongside live tunes from Ol’Daze and a very welcome ice cream van.
As part of the celebrations, the museum will unveil its brand new exhibition “Grassroots to Glory: Around the Track” exploring the region’s rich and colourful local sporting history. It’s a wonderful addition to a collection that now spans more than 14,000 historical items, making Landsborough Museum one of the largest community-run museums in South East Queensland.
The event also forms part of the Australian Heritage Festival (18th April – 18th May 2026), this year themed around “Change” – a timely reminder of how history shapes us, and how communities like this one have shaped history in return.
Admission is free and no registration is required.
