National Simultaneous Storytime 2025 – The Truck Cat!
Young families are encouraged to visit their local council library and take part in a joyful nationwide celebration of storytelling with National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) on Wednesday 21 May 2025 at 12:00pm. Now in its 25th year, this vibrant event invites children and families across Australia to come together and read the same picture book at the same time.
This year’s featured title is The Truck Cat, written by Deborah Frenkel and illustrated by Danny Snell. The beautifully illustrated story follows a cat named Tinka and his human companion Yacoub as they travel far from home, exploring themes of belonging, identity, and friendship in a gentle and relatable way for young readers.
Local libraries will be hosting special NSS events, providing the perfect setting for families to gather, listen to the story, and take part in fun, literacy-focused activities. It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect with your community, spark children’s imaginations, and nurture a love of books in a warm, welcoming environment.
With no cost to participate, families are simply encouraged to head to their nearest council library to join in the fun. Don’t miss this chance to be part of a nationwide moment of connection, laughter and storytelling. Let’s read together!
