Nature Journaling: Map Your Wild Adventure @ Osprey House
These April school holidays, Osprey House in Griffin is offering a free, hands-on nature journaling experience for kids, running across two Fridays, 10 and 17 April 2026.
Children will step onto the boardwalk and into the mangrove forest for a guided walk, learning how to turn their observations into a personalised nature map that captures plants, wildlife evidence and the hidden stories of the landscape. It’s a great way to build observation and mapping skills while spending meaningful time outdoors.
Two sessions are available to suit different age groups. Wildlife Home Mapping, best suited to ages 5 to 7, runs from 9:30 to 10:00am and takes little explorers on a discovery of the different homes animals rely on, from nest boxes and tree hollows to termite mounds, which children mark on their own map along the way. Flora and Fauna Mapping, best suited to ages 7 to 12, runs from 10:30 to 11:00am and takes a guided stroll from the Centre to the mangroves, spotting key vegetation and wildlife evidence to build a more detailed nature map.
Both sessions run outdoors, so children should come prepared with suitable footwear, a hat, a water bottle and insect repellent. Sessions are weather dependent and spots are limited.
