Queensland Transport Museum Open Day

Queensland Transport Museum Open Day

The Queensland Transport Museum invites visitors to join them on Sunday, 13th of April as they celebrate their exciting reopening!  Whether guests are transport enthusiasts or just looking for a fun day out, the museum offers something for everyone. Families are encouraged to attend for a day full of entertainment, adventure, and history.

This special exhibition is a must-see, showcasing original military vehicles dating back all the way to World War 1. From rugged army trucks to intricate wartime engineering, each piece in this powerful exhibition tells a story of courage, endurance, and innovation.

After some time off for maintenance, the museum is thrilled to reopen and welcome visitors back with open arms to explore this incredible collection. It’s not just about vehicles – it’s about honoring the heroes who served and giving guests the chance to connect with their stories.

Among the impressive collection on display, visitors will find:

  • A 1941 GMC 6×6 Prime Mover – Dubbed “the truck that won the war” with over 580,000 built
  • A 1942 Australian Dingo Scout Car – A rare and resilient piece of Australian military history
  • A 1956 Saracen Armoured Personnel Carrier – A six-wheeled powerhouse built for battlefield endurance
  • A 1969 Diamond Rio Prime Mover – The first of its kind brought to Australia, and the only manual version
