REFOCUS Family Day – Protecting children is everybody’s business
Families are invited to come together at Apex Park, Caboolture, for a vibrant day of culture, music and community spirit. This free event is dedicated to raising awareness and support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, who represent a large proportion of young people in care. It’s more than a gathering – it’s a chance to celebrate culture, create a sense of belonging for our young ones, and remind us all of the importance of keeping children strong, safe and proud.
The day will be filled with incredible performances, with live music from BARKAA, Russ Walker and A.R.T (NZ) alongside traditional dance showcases from the Nunukul Yuggera Aboriginal Dance Company, Tilomai Dance Group and Torres Strait Islander Dance Group. Mix FM will be broadcasting live from the event, and families can look forward to joining in the fun with Bust a Move.
There will be plenty to keep the whole family entertained, with free rides, a dedicated kids’ area, and a welcoming Elders Area to relax and connect. Food trucks and market stalls will be serving delicious treats, while community stalls offer the chance to engage with local groups and discover new opportunities.
Hosting the day’s festivities are Jerachi from the QATSIF Youth Council and Haylanni, Miss Samoa and Miss Global, who will help keep the celebrations flowing.
