Winter School Holiday Program at State Library

27 June - 12 July

These school holidays, discover opportunities to share stories, create, learn and play with hands-on experiences for children and families. These featured events are just a taste of the exciting winter program on offer at State Library.

Ellis and the Night Orchestra:
27 – 30 June. $15, bookings required.

Ellis and the Night Orchestra is a tiny opera for tiny people that blends live music, gentle storytelling and playful imagination into a high-quality theatre experience not to be missed.
Developed especially for young audiences by writer-director Julie Ritchey and composer/performer Tim Munro, the show features live chamber musicians from the Southern Cross Soloists. Opening night performances on 27 June are presented as part of a special Night at the library event, with free drop-in activities and the opportunity to explore the library after dark.

Make and design with real tools:
2–5 July. $15, bookings required.
Join Make and Meld at State Library for hands on workshops where children aged 3 and up will get the opportunity to use real tools to create either a Earth, moon and sun model or a cloud lamp. Using a mix of tools, materials and clever building techniques, you’ll craft your very own creation to bring home!

Create with Cultural Collaborations:
7–9 July. Free and ticketed events.
Connect to culture and country through art and music. Cultural Collaborations are running two $15 ticketed art workshops offering opportunities to experiment with lino printing and sand painting. Or join us for our big mornings of art and music with free drop in activities from 7–9 July.
