**POSTPONED** Witches Christmas Market @ Petrie
Due to the predicted bad weather with heaps of rain and high winds, we have taken the step to postpone the Petrie Witches Market one week to Nov 22.
Returning for its fifth year, the Witches Market will once again bring magic and community spirit to Petrie, this time with a festive twist. Set within the heart of the Pagan community, this unique market offers an alternative celebration of the season, highlighting the rich traditions and history behind what many know today as Christmas.
Although Yule is traditionally observed in June in the Southern Hemisphere and celebrated by many with winter markets and rituals, the Witches Market embraces the Christmas season as a valuable opportunity to educate and share the origins of these customs. Yule – historically celebrated by Germanic peoples and later incorporated into Christian traditions – forms the foundation of many well-known holiday practices, including the Yule log, singing, festive feasting, and symbolic animals like the Yule goat and boar.
Today, Yule remains an important part of modern Pagan and Germanic spiritual observance, independent of mainstream Christmas celebrations. The market offers a space to explore this heritage, celebrate community, and support local artisans and businesses.
As the original and best market proudly rooted in the Pagan community, the Witches Market offers a seasonal event unlike any other – inclusive, educational, and enchantingly festive.
