A Birthday Party They’ll Actually Remember

If you’ve organised a few kids’ birthday parties before, you’ll know the hardest part usually isn’t the cake. It’s finding something that keeps everyone entertained, runs smoothly and somehow still leaves you a chance to enjoy the day yourself.
That’s exactly what Spec Ops Paintball has designed their birthday parties to do!
Spec Ops Paintball in North Ipswich offers fully indoor Nerf Battle parties for ages 6+ and Gel Ball parties for ages 12+. Their staff run all the gameplay, all equipment is provided, and every group has a reserved party table. You get to stand back, watch and actually enjoy your child’s special day.
Nerf Battle Parties (Ages 6+)

If your child loves adventure, imagination and running around with friends, a Nerf Battle party is a fantastic choice.
No experience is needed. Before anyone steps onto the field, Spec Ops shows everyone exactly how everything works. Within a few minutes, even first-time players are confidently joining in alongside friends who’ve played before.
The games themselves are what make the difference.
Every mission has a purpose. One game might have teams defending a bunker, while the next involves rescuing a teammate or capturing an objective. Before long, you’ll hear kids planning their next move, cheering each other on and celebrating the wins together. It’s active, energetic fun that gets everyone involved.
The birthday child also receives an upgraded Nerf blaster, giving them something a little extra on their special day.
Every party also includes a session in the Spec Ops Games Room, where guests can play Nintendo Switch games, challenge each other on the retro arcade machine, and enjoy a few other interactive games. The group also has its own reserved table for food and cake.
Gel Ball Parties (Ages 12+)

Older kids often want something a little more challenging, and that’s exactly where Gel Ball comes in. The games are faster-paced, a little more tactical, and designed for players ready to step things up.
Just like the Nerf parties, no experience is required. Spec Ops Paintball’s staff explain everything before the games begin and supervise every session, so first-time players settle in quickly while more experienced players still enjoy the challenge.
Rather than simply trying to eliminate the other team, every game has a different objective. Teams work together to defend positions, complete missions and achieve goals, so communication and teamwork become just as important as accuracy. It’s fast-paced, tactical and, most importantly, a lot of fun.
The birthday child also receives an upgraded gel blaster, giving them something a little extra on their special day.
Every party also includes time in the Spec Ops Games Room, with Nintendo Switch games, their two-player retro arcade machine, and a few other interactive games to keep guests entertained. The group also has its own reserved table for food and cake.
Making the Day Easier for Parents

All equipment is provided, the Spec Ops Paintball staff run and supervise the gameplay, and every group has a reserved party table. Digital invitations, party food, cake service and clean-up are also included, so there’s much less for parents to organise on the day.
Because everything takes place indoors, there’s no need to worry about the weather or scramble for a last-minute backup plan. Every birthday child also receives a free return pass, so the fun doesn’t have to end when the party does!
What Makes Spec Ops Different For Kids’ Parties?
One of the things that sets Spec Ops Paintball apart is that their games aren’t simply about running around and shooting at each other. Every session is built around a series of missions that encourage teamwork, communication and problem-solving, creating an experience that’s just as much about working together as it is about having fun.
That mission-based approach comes from owner, Francis Wanrooy, who spent 17 years serving in the Australian Army, including as a Commando in the Special Forces. While these birthday parties are all about fun, many of the games are inspired by the teamwork and the objective-based thinking he experienced during his military career.
Spec Ops Paintball is also proud to have been recognised as a Best of Queensland Experience by Tourism and Events Queensland in 2026, recognising the quality of the experience they strive to deliver for every family who visits.
While this article focuses on their Nerf and Gel Ball birthday parties, Spec Ops also offers indoor paintball for players aged 15 and over, making it a place families can continue to enjoy as their children grow older. Read more about the Spec Ops Paintball arena here.
