Tammy’s Art Studio is a safe and creative space for children to develop their artistic side. Located in Shailer Park, this private art school encourages students to be imaginative and individual, to explore, and to have fun each and every week. Kids can advance at their own pace and have the freedom to investigate their own interests throughout the classes.

About Tammy’s Art Studio

As an art teacher, Tammy has taught hundreds of kids over the last ten years and, as a qualified art therapist, she has also received additional specialist training in working with autism, as well as identifying and adapting to children with challenging behaviours.

The PICASSOs – Prep to Grade 3

This 1½-hour class at Tammy’s Art Studio is designed to guide budding artists to explore a range of techniques and mediums. The aim is to expose each child with a variety of different styles and applications throughout each term to encourage experimentation.

Each week, a different media base is explored, with a demo, example or in-depth instructions provided at the start of each class. Students then complete their artwork using the guidance that has been given as well as further assistance throughout the class.

Occasionally, a project will be undertaken over a 2–3-week period (such as Papier Mache or landscape painting) where 1.5 hours is not enough time to to get through the process. This approach allows for children to travel at their own pace to maximise learning.

For the fast creatives who finish early, if their art has been fully developed, they are then encouraged to practise drawing something new using a reference to develop their observation skills.

Classes are capped at 8 to ensure each student receives appropriate direction and attention.

The MICHELANGELOs – Grades 4-6

This 1½-hour class at Tammy’s Art Studio focuses on projects including work inspired by contemporary artists and art periods. While still exploring a variety of techniques and applications, students will begin to discover a much broader range of styles.

Each week, a different media base is explored, with a demo, example or in-depth instructions provided at the start of each class. Students then complete their artwork in the class timeframe.

Occasionally, works take 2-3 weeks to complete and Tammy always provides room for individualism by offering choices in subjects, medium, or approach.

The class is capped at 8 to ensure each student receives appropriate direction and attention.

The DA VINCIs – Grades 7-12

This 2-hour class at Tammy’s Art Studio is designed to be a therapeutic art class for teens to explore their own art projects.

For much of each term, students continue to explore a variety of techniques, applications and styles. Projects are developed in more detail to allow deeper investigation of a particular medium or style. Assistance with technique, technical medium advice and general guidance on where to take a project is provided to each student.

A large focus in this class is to enjoy a safe and relaxing environment with other like-minded teens.

The class is capped at 8 to ensure each student receives appropriate direction and attention.

Testimonials

I love going to art class because Miss Tammy is so kind and helpful. She lets me try lots of different art things like clay, paint, drawing, chalk, watercolour and making things too, but best of all she is helping me to become a better artist and not to be scared of trying new things. I also get to make new friends who like doing art things, just like me!” – Erina, age 6

I just wanted to let you know what an amazing job you do. I have seen a huge change in Jordan since she has been going to art classes and she has so much more confidence than she used to have. I’ve really struggled to get her to do any outside of school activities because she is so shy but she looks forward to art every week.” – Erin

My daughter has been attending this studio for 15 months now and the change I have seen in her is outstanding. Her artwork is phenomenal. The confidence she has in herself is amazing. The teacher pushes students to work outside their comfort zone and the results speak for themselves. I highly recommend this studio not only to learn but to build on their better selves and bring out something they don’t even know they have in them!” – Jolene
