Brisbane’s Ukrainian Festival
Brisbane is invited to a day of culture, music, food, flower-crown making, and dancing at Brissie’s annual Ukrainian Festival on Saturday, 23rd August. This free event supports a great cause by raising funds for those in need.
This year’s festival, organised by the Ukrainian Community of Queensland Inc. (UCQ), promises to be the biggest yet, offering Queenslanders a day of cultural immersion at the Ukrainian Club Brisbane
The festival is a fantastic outing for families across Southeast Queensland, featuring a rich cultural experience and activities for all ages.
Cultural Performances: Enjoy traditional Ukrainian music and folk dance performances by local ensembles, showcasing Ukraine’s rich history through movement.
Market Stalls: Shop for unique Ukrainian goods, including handmade jewellery, Vinok flower crowns, and intricate Pysanky Easter eggs, each piece reflecting Ukraine’s quality craftsmanship.
Authentic Cuisine: Savour traditional Ukrainian dishes such as Varenyky (potato and cheese-filled dumplings), Holubtsi (stuffed cabbage rolls), and Chicken Shashliks (a Ukrainian twist on the classic kebab).
Kids Activities: Engage the little ones with fun-filled activities including face painting, flower crown making, and a giant inflatable obstacle course.
Join the Queensland Ukrainian Community for a day of cultural enrichment and Vechirka (joyous celebration) to mark Ukrainian Independence Day. Admission is free, and everyone is welcome. Don’t miss this chance to experience the best of Ukrainian culture right here in Brisbane.
