Witches Christmas Market @ Petrie

5 December
The Witches Market Christmas Edition at Petrie

Step into an enchanted world this December 2026 at the Witches Christmas Market at the Petrie School of Arts in north Brisbane. Brisbane families can explore an extraordinary festive gathering filled with crystals, handmade artisan gifts, and fantasy treasures, offering kids and parents a magical, free holiday shopping experience like no other.

The Witches Market Christmas Edition at Petrie

The Witches Market returns to Petrie for its 6th enchanted year, celebrating the magic of the festive season and honouring both the Christmas traditions of Australia and the ancient spirit of Yule, celebrated by our Northern Hemisphere cousins.

Step into a world of wonder where witches, pagans, mystics, artists, creators and seekers gather to share their crafts, knowledge and magic. Best of all, entry is completely free!

What you’ll find

Browse a treasure trove of unique and unusual finds, including handmade pagan and witchcraft supplies, crystals, gemstones and fossils, candles, incense and ritual tools, gothic, fantasy and alternative gifts, artisan crafts and jewellery, taxidermy, oddities and curiosities, and books, artwork and spiritual treasures. There are plenty of one-of-a-kind items you won’t find in mainstream stores. Whether you’re searching for the perfect Yule gift, an unusual Christmas present or something delightfully strange for yourself, there’s magic waiting around every corner.

Yule and the origins of Christmas

In the Southern Hemisphere, Yule is traditionally celebrated in June, and a dedicated Yule market was held earlier this year on the Fraser Coast. This event is a chance to explore the fascinating origins of many Christmas traditions and how ancient Yule customs have influenced the festive season we know today.

Historically, Yule (also known as Jul, Jól or Joulu) was a winter festival celebrated by Germanic peoples, and it later became intertwined with Christmas during the Christianisation of Europe. Scholars have linked the ancient celebrations to traditions surrounding Odin, the Wild Hunt and the Anglo-Saxon Mōdraniht, or “Mothers’ Night”.

Many beloved festive customs are believed to have roots in these older Yule celebrations, including the Yule log, the Yule goat, the Yule boar, traditional Yule singing, and community feasting and celebration. Everyone is encouraged to explore the history for themselves and discover the rich tapestry of traditions that have shaped modern Christmas celebrations.

About The Witches Market

The Witches Market is the original and longest-running market of its kind in South East Queensland, created by and operating within the Pagan community for the Pagan community and its supporters. Whether you’re Pagan, spiritual, alternative, curious or simply looking for a truly unique day out, come and experience the magic.

Free entry. Family friendly. Unique shopping. Magical community. Come for the magic. Stay for the wonder.
