For a fun park by the water on Bribie Island, look no further than the playground under the trees โ Brennan Park.
Explore Brennan Park

As soon as you cross the bridge onto Bribie Island you will be mesmerised by the sparkling water. Turning right, and working your way along the waterfront, you will come across the delightful Brennan Park.
Nestled under huge, well-established trees, which offer ample shade (particularly welcomed in the Summer months) you will find a playground which is an ideal pitstop on your visit to Bribie.
The younger children will enjoy the toddler fort, which contains slides, play panels, a talking tube and steering wheels.
For the climbers in the family, their skills will be tested on the equipment which encourages users to get from one side to the other without touching the ground via a series of ladder, rings, nets and steps. At the end, should you be successful, you can zip down the slide before moving on to something else or seeing if you can make it across again, but maybe quicker.
There is no shortage of opportunities to swing the day away while looking out to the water at this park. Take your pick of a nest, toddler, or standard swings or to increase the thrill factor, jump onboard the three-seater spinning carousel, which will have you and your friends zooming around in circles. Just make sure you stop before you get too dizzy!
In other parts of the play area, you will find an accessible carousel, small wooden bridge, stepping logs and a rope run.
Brennan Park is located right on the Esplanade at Bongaree and as such has lovely views over the water to Sandstone Point and the Glass House Mountains in the distance.
With plenty of seating available in the form of picnic tables, rock walls and lots of grassy spaces, it is easy to enjoy a picnic, fish and chips or a BBQ while visiting. There are plenty of cafes, restaurants and takeaway shops in the neighbouring streets, so donโt leave without filling your bellies.
Before or after a play wander along the foreshore, out to the end of the jetty and scan the water for any number of creatures which call Bribie Island home. Fish, pelicans, and even dugongs and dolphins can often be spotted relaxing in the area โ will you be lucky enough to spot one!?
This playground is unfenced and not far from a road and a large body of water, so please exercise caution when visiting.
Imagination Factor at Brennan Park
This seaside setting amongst the trees ignites young imaginations. Could they be a pirate or mariner scanning the seas for passing boats, or perhaps with a set of binoculars they are a wildlife warrior exploring and protecting all the creatures great and small.
Games of tiggy, floor is lava and hide and seek are always great fun, especially when there are new friends to meet and play with.
While time at the playground is always fun, donโt forget to bring your shovels and buckets, sun hats and swimmers so you can enjoy some sand and water play on the nearby beach. The water on this side of Bribie is generally calmer and shallower, making it ideal for families, while the bigger waves can be found at the surf beach over at Woorim.
Accessibility Brennan Park
Accessibility at Brennan Park is limited due to bark base, but there are concrete paths leading to and around the play area and soft fall can be found around some equipment like the swings, accessible carousel, and swinging carousel.
There are multiple swings which include a nest swing, toddler and standard swing and a half-bucket adult swing with frame support and handles. An all-access carousel can be found outside the bark area, and has spaces for sitting, standing and wheelchairs.
The play equipment is largely covered by large, well-established trees, which offers plenty of shade. Many picnic tables are dotted around the park, with some shaded by the trees and others with shelters.
BBQโs can be found close to the park and along the foreshore, as can accessible toilets and change rooms (just a short 100m across the grassy area or along the foreshore pathway).

What We Thought of Brennan Park
We loved that this was a shady playground right in the heart of Bongaree on Bribie Island. There was no shortage of activities in and around the park, and the views were gorgeous.
The kids loved the climbing equipment and swings, especially the spinning, three-seater carousel (I am glad they didnโt have the donut and milkshake beforehand).
While You Are in the Area
It is very easy to spend a whole day at Bribie Island, in fact we recommend you do. Aside from the water based activities and sand play at the beaches there are other fun family-friendly activities to enjoy.
Don your brightest clothes (the butterflies are attracted to bright colours) and visit The Bribie Island Butterfly House where stunning butterflies flutter around you and may even land on you. It is only open on Wednesdayโs and Sundayโs so time your visit accordingly.
If you are looking for an indoor activity, visit the Bribie Island Seaside Museum where you can learn about the history of the area and enjoy their interactive displays.
