Money can’t buy happiness, but it can buy chocolate!
You will be amazed at the number of child-friendly cafes with a chocolate focus and incredible chocolate shops in our city and surrounds — so why not take your Brisbane Kid on a chocolate tour of Brisbane? Here are some of the top places you could choose from:
Mayfield Chocolates, Spring Hill
Mayfield Chocolates, located in 143 Edward St, Brisbane City, and at 155 Wickham Terrace, Spring Hill, offers lots of novelty chocolates that will delight your Brisbane Kids. There’s everything from chocolate lollipops, to chocolate starfish and chocolate dogs! There are gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan options too so that everyone can enjoy a treat.
Chocolate Moments, City
Chocolate Moments has two inner-city locations — Chocolate Boulevard in the Myer Centre, Brisbane and The Art of Fine Chocolate at 117 Albert Street. The stores sell a wide range of chocolates including sugar-free, dairy-free, gluten-free and diabetic-friendly chocolate. The Myer Centre store also sells a wide range of confectionery that children will drool over. A great gift idea, or even just if you need one yourself, are their chocolate and candy First Aid Kits!
Max Brenner, Various Locations
Arguably the most child-friendly chocolate shop in Brisbane is Max Brenner, found in multiple locations including Little Stanley Street Plaza, South Bank and Westfield Shopping Centre, Carindale. Children can watch the big vats of chocolate being stirred, see it run through the pipes to the kitchen and enjoy the results on a chocolate pizza or one of the many other decadent menu items.
Couverture & Co, Red Hill
Couverture & Co. is an artisan chocolate shop with beautifully handcrafted chocolates. Parents will be pleased to know that all their chocolates are made fresh onsite and so are free from artificial preservatives. Chocolates are available by the piece or can be individually selected to fill a gift box. Children are welcome, so pop into their store at 19A Enoggera Terrace, Red Hill, for a small bite of happiness!
Coffee & Chocolate, City
If you’re shopping, lunching or perhaps catching a movie in the city with your Brisbane Kids, why not call in to Coffee & Chocolate, located in Queens Plaza at 261 Queen Street, for a bite to eat and a quick chocolate fix?
Noosa Chocolate Factory, Various Locations
If you can’t make it all the way to the Noosa Chocolate Factory, fear not! Their goodies can be found in four Brisbane locations — The Dark Chocolatier at 156 Adelaide Street, another outlet at 144 Adelaide Street and two in Queen Street (both of which are opened seasonally only). Their nut-free Rocky Road is delicious! They also offer an egg-free and gluten-free range.
Chocolateria San Churro, Various Locations
For a Spanish take on chocolate, try Chocolateria San Churro at multiple locations around Brisbane including 2/161 Grey Street, South Bank. Our pick is the chocolate-dipped Churros, which are a little like a cinnamon doughnut, served with thick and rich Spanish hot chocolate. Mmmmm!
Dello Mano Cafe, Teneriffe
When in or near Teneriffe, drop by Dello Mano Café at 29 Doggett Street, Teneriffe, to sample the most divine chocolate brownies you are ever likely to eat. You can also order them and other chocolate treats online, and have the chocolatey goodness delivered to your door.
Coco Jungle Chocolate Lounge, Sunnybank
Give your Brisbane Kids an education on life in the ’70s by introducing them to chocolate fondue at Coco Jungle Chocolate Lounge in Sunnybank Plaza. This is also a fun one to recreate at home!
Poppy’s Chocolate, Beenleigh
Visiting Poppy’s Chocolate at 5/2 Spanns Road, Beenleigh is a must for Brisbane Kids who love chocolate. They can learn how chocolate is made and watch the process in their chocolate factory, as well as sample their wide range of chocolates, including chocolate figures and seasonal chocolates (such as Christmas and Easter treats). They now also offer chocolate classes and the option to have a group party to make chocolates yourself!
Chocolate High Tea, City
Is there any child that wouldn’t love a chocolate buffet? For a special treat on a weekend afternoon, you and your Brisbane Kids can indulge in all-you-can-eat chocolate at the Chocolate High Tea Buffet in the Stamford Plaza at 39 Edward Street, Brisbane. There are chocolate cakes and chocolate slices, chocolate biscuits and chocolate dip for fruit and marshmallows. There’s also some savoury items and sweets that are not chocolate based. Children will also love the themed high teas for events such as Halloween and Christmas.
Darrel Lea, Various Locations
From humble beginnings selling sweets from a pushcart, and later to a small factory under the first arch of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, family company Darrell Lea has spent decades creating fine chocolates and yummy confectionery. Click here to find your nearest Brisbane stockist.
