If you’ve been searching for a playground with a modern design and the safety of full fencing, then look no further than one of Ipswich’s newest playgrounds – Cameron Park in Booval. This sleek-looking play space is packed to the rafters with equipment for all abilities and its Queenslander home façade provides a distinctive point of difference.
Cameron Park Playground
Undoubtedly the first thing you’ll notice as you approach Cameron Park is the two towering house frames which are not only visually appealing but also provide an excellent backdrop for imaginary games.
The white houses, which look a little like incomplete home builds, feature varying sizes of windows, a stairway, slide and platform all combining to create an immersive play space.
Upon stepping inside the front doors, you’ll also find some other playground favourites such as an in-ground trampoline, balance beam and a classic game of hopscotch.
The wider play area is full of opportunities to explore and be challenged from the small, toddler sized playground to a generously sized ninja-warrior-style course complete with ropes, bridges and nets.
There is also an inclusive carousel and social swing circle with adaptive seating to allow for greater participation and accessibility. While most of the space is offered some protection by shade sails, it is still quite exposed to the elements making hats and sunscreen an absolute must!
There are a few picnic shelters within the fenced area, as well as electric BBQs and water fountains. The surrounding parklands provide ample space for a kick around and a short bike path is ideal for beginner bike riders.
Fitness enthusiasts will also be delighted to find an impressive outdoor gym set up located approximately 50 metres from the main playground.
Imagination Factor at Cameron Park
The Queenslander houses provide an easy prompt for creative play with endless storylines and ways to engage as a solo player or collaboratively with siblings and friends. Games of pretend neighbours, families or even builders and constructions workers are just some that come to mind.
The ninja-warrior-style climbing course lends itself to a different type of imaginary play as young challengers are encouraged to navigate their way through the roped obstacles. For active types, a time trial through the course would be a fun way to get that competitive energy flowing.
Accessibility at Cameron Park
The newly constructed Cameron Park playground at Booval has been designed with accessibility in mind with concrete paths and refurbished, wheelchair friendly toilet facilities.
The playground features a ground level carousel and adaptive swings to help accommodate for children of all abilities.

What We Thought of Cameron Park
Cameron Park is a lovely playground with a contemporary cubby house vibe that makes it feel familiar and safe (plus we absolutely love a fenced playground!).
The large variety of equipment is also a big drawcard for families as there is bound to be something here to entertain children of different ages, interests and abilities.
It is a bit lacking in sun protection so be mindful of visiting on a hot day and come prepared.
