One of the best ways to entertain and educate young children is through performance, and there are some brilliant family shows hitting the stages in Brisbane in 2025.
With most bookings opening months in advance, it is always a good idea to plan ahead and book early for any shows you think you might like. To help with your planning, below is a list of children’s shows on in Brisbane in 2025.

Peter and the Starcatcher
The Queensland Performing Arts Centre is always home to a wide range of performances throughout the year and a great many of these are perfect for kids.
Below is a list of shows that you may want to see with your children in 2025.
Peter and the Starcatcher
The highly anticipated production of the five-time Tony Award-winning play Peter and the Starcatcher arrives in Brisbane in March 2025! The Broadway smash hit begins at QPAC on 14 March for a strictly limited season before it finishes its Australian run.
Peter and the Starcatcher is the hilarious, swashbuckling prequel to Peter Pan. Before Neverland, there was an island. Before Captain Hook, a pirate. Before Wendy, her mother Molly. Before Peter, a nameless boy.

The Wiggles Bouncing Balls Tour
Get excited for The Wiggles brand-new, interactive and engaging live show. Sing, dance and wiggle your way through this fun filled show featuring all your favourite Wiggles and their friends including The Tree of Wisdom!

Cirque Alice
Cirque Alice arrives to the stage as part of the QPAC 40 program, celebrating 40 years of curiosity, inclusion, gathering and stories.
Featuring global acrobatic performers, this magnificent family-friendly spectacle will amaze, mesmerise and entertain the audience. From contortionists, aerialists, puppetry, comedic and musical acts, this stage show, reimagined from Lewis Carroll’s classic adventures, will have everyone oohing and ahhing.
Note – This production contains strobe lighting, smoke and haze effects.

Dog Man: The Musical
Dog Man: The Musical is a performance adventure based on the worldwide bestselling series from Dav Pilkey, the creator of the top selling DOG MAN and Captain Underpants books.
Best buddies George and Harold have been creating comics for years, but now that they’re in 5th grade, they figure it’s time to level up and write a musical based on their favourite character, Dog Man, the crime-biting sensation who is part dog, part man and ALL HERO!!
How hard could it be …?
With the head of a dog and the body of a policeman, Dog Man loves to fight crime and chew on the furniture.

The Nutcracker 2025
As is now a Christmas tradition, The Nutcracker ballet will once again come to life on QPAC’s stage this December.
As the festive party winds down and the clock strikes 12, join young Clara on a magical adventure as toys awaken, and soldiers and mice frolic and play!
Travel through a delectable dreamscape of the Lemonade Sea and Kingdom of Sweets, as Clara encounters the beautiful Snow Queen, Prince, and whimsical Sugar Plum Fairy, plus all the enchanting inhabitants of their kingdom. This midnight rendezvous takes place in a dazzling world where nothing is as it seems.

Out of the Box Festival 2025 – QPAC
Out of the Box returns to QPAC for another year, ready to entertain young children and their families throughout June with a variety of family-friendly shows and activities.
Guests can enjoy theatre experiences (listed below), free events, workshops and fun activities.

Club Origami
Dive into the magical world of Club Origami, an immersive and interactive dance show inviting family audiences to create, imagine and explore whole new ways of thinking, playing and moving.
Dance, fashion and live music meet the magic of origami to sweep us up on a spirited and inspiring adventure in a land made purely of paper and play.

The Gruffalo
After sell-out seasons across the world, The Gruffalo returns to QPAC in 2025.
Join Mouse on a daring adventure through the deep, dark wood in this magical, musical adaptation of the classic picture book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.
Searching for hazelnuts, Mouse meets the cunning Fox, the eccentric old Owl and the party mad Snake. Will the story of the terrifying Gruffalo save Mouse from ending up as dinner for these hungry woodland creatures? After all, there’s no such thing as a Gruffalo – is there?

Gurril Storm Bird
Gather around the campfire in the forest to hear the story of Gurril, the young boy who came face to face with the rainbow serpent.
Celebrating the culture of the Gimuy Walubara Yidinji people of Cairns, Gurril Storm Bird recounts how Gurril learns a valuable lesson as he discovers just how powerful Gudju-Gudju is. Adapted from the prize-winning children’s picture book by Trevor (Bumi) Fourmile.

The Lost Lending Library
Enter The Lost Lending Library to discover a magical world: a celebration of books, stories and the awe-inspiring journeys they take us on. Creative minds are required to enter its doors and contribute to its collection.
Note – This experience contains sustained activity in a confined space, includes scented areas, requires the audience to travel to different spaces and move actively throughout, including sitting on the floor as there are limited seating options.

Where is the Green Sheep?
Where is the Green Sheep? is an immersive visual theatre experience based on the beloved children’s book by Mem Fox and Judy Horacek.
We meet the Blue Sheep who loves his blue flowers and the Red Sheep who loves to cartwheel in the fields, the Bath Sheep who loves bubbles and the Bed Sheep who loves to bounce … But where IS that Green Sheep?
Co-created with students from Bankstown West Public School, puppetry and animation blend together seamlessly to entertain and engage young audiences.

Wolfgang in the Stars
This world premiere of Wolfgang in the Stars is a dazzling delight for audiences of all ages filled with sparkling acrobatics, side-splitting gags, and stunning video projections transporting you to a world where music and imagination collide.
Join the boy-genius Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart as he embarks on an interstellar journey to seek inspiration for his beloved early masterpiece “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.”

Wonderbox
Inside a giant puzzle-box of illusions, kooky-carnival friends with magic in their pockets lead audiences into an immersive multi-sensory wonderland of fantastical large-scale projections, strange tiny delights, and infectious live music. EVERY child’s curiosity is celebrated and rewarded with wondrous surprises.
All performances of Wonderbox are relaxed performances, with audiences invited to sit or move around freely within the performance space and the adjacent chill-out zone, outside the performance space.
The performers use multi-modal communication including key signs, natural gesture, visual symbols and minimal verbal language. The show is highly visual with a rich aural environment and many opportunities for individual engagement and interaction through the senses.

Monkey Baa Theatre Company brings Josephine Wants to Dance to the stage in this seriously funny and musical production perfect for young families. Pevan and Sarah in Concert
Pevan and Sarah are back back in concert lighting up the stage with a mixture of music, laughter and even a touch of learning!
Join Pevan and Sarah for a 50 minute, action-packed performance full of all your favourite hits, as Pevan the tiger and his sidekick Sarah bring the house down in a show that’s as entertaining as it is educational.
Created by teachers, this interactive spectacle blends curriculum-aligned literacy and numeracy with essential social-emotional skills, teamwork and of course, plenty of fun!
